Office for the Aging mails HEAP applications

The Monroe County Office for the Aging has mailed Home Energy Assistance Program grant applications to seniors who have previously contacted the office for assistance. In past years, the Office for the Aging has completed the application process by telephone. However, due to concerns about limited federal funding for the program. Monroe County decided to expedite the application process by mailing the necessary forms. The Office of the Aging has been informed that seniors need to have their applications postmarked by December 31 in order to be considered for heating assistance this winter.

HEAP application forms were mailed Friday, December 13. The Office for the Aging was recently informed that funding for the program could be completely allocated by the first of the year.
