Summer camp plans set for Sweden/Clarkson Rec

Beginning in June 2003, Sweden/Clarkson Recreation will be offering a Monroe County Certified Day Camp to kids in grades K-6. The tentative dates for the seven-week camp will be from Tuesday, June 24 through Friday, August 8. The day camp will operate in two locations and will be broken down by grade. Day campers in grades K-2 will utilize the Brockport Ginther School and day campers in grades 3-6 will utilize the Brockport Barclay School. Each location will have one director (age 21 or over), two assistant directors (age 18 or over), several counselors (age 16 or over) and two counselors in training (age 15). County participant/staff ratios will be adhered to throughout the camp. Campers will be required to be signed in each day by an eligible adult upon arrival at camp and signed out each day by an eligible pick-up person in order to be transported home.

Plans for the day camp already include many opportunities to go swimming at the Brockport High School Pool, a morning drama/theater group which will meet twice each week and several exciting field trips. Bus transportation for field trips will be provided by Brockport Central School District. Each field trip is optional and is not included in the weekly day camp registration fee. Additional transportation permission forms will also need to be completed.

Participants will register for the 2003 Summer Day Camp in one-week increments. This will allow families to go on vacation without having to pay for any weeks of camp that they will not be attending. Participants may register for all weeks at once if they choose to do so or they may register and submit payment on a weekly basis.

All registrations and payments will be taken at the Sweden/Clarkson Community Center, 4927 Lake Road in Brockport. Registration will be on-going and will begin on Monday, June 2. Once camp begins, registrations and payments for the following week will be due by each preceding Wednesday. The day camp will accept the first 100 participants registered for each location for each week of camp. All campers will receive a Crocodile Recreation Summer Day Camp t-shirt.

Each camper must have a Sweden/Clarkson Recreation 2003 photo ID card to register.
