Monroe County tax bills redesigned
Monroe County tax bills redesigned

Redesigned tax bills will soon be arriving in the mail for Monroe County property owners. The new bill includes an easier-to-read design, enhanced payment instructions and a more precise breakdown of how tax dollars are spent, according to a press release from the county.

Most tax bills arrived after January 1. Payment dates and locations will remain the same as in past years. Full tax payments are due by February 10 without the accrual of interest. Installment payments are due: first installment - February 10 (without interest); second installment - February 28 (with 1.5 percent interest); third installment - March 31 (with 3 percent interest).

If a tax bill is inadvertently sent for a property where taxes are paid through escrow with a mortgage holder, the tax bill should be forwarded to the mortgage/escrow company.

Enhanced instructions and information on the back of the new bill should alleviate and assist with any questions regarding individual 2003 property tax bills, according to county officials. Additional questions can be answered by calling the telephone number noted on the actual tax bill.
