Congregation
welcomes new pastor

The Rev. John Vertigan officially began his work as pastor of the First Congregational Church of the United Church of Christ in Spencerport on January 1. More than 150 attendees extended an enthusiastic greeting to the pastor and his family at their first worship service together on January 5.

Rev. Vertigan comes to Spencerport after several years as pastor of the First Congregation UCC in Corning. Prior to that, he served the United Church of Madrid, in St. Lawrence County. His roots are in Camillus, a suburb on the west side of Syracuse.

Rev. Vertigan and his family are living in the newly renovated 1903 church parsonage. Sue Vertigan has begun work with the BOCES program and daughter Ally is in seventh grade at the Ada Cosgrove Middle School.

All the members of the First Congregational Church encourage friends and neighbors who are searching for a church family to attend worship and meet our new pastor and family. Sunday worship is at 10:15 a.m. and this hour includes Sunday School and nursery care. A formal service of installation will take place March 23 at 3 p.m. in the White Church sanctuary. The community is invited to participate.
