United Way of Eastern Orleans held its annual meeting January 27 to elect officers and members to the Board of Directors and to recognize companies supporting the United Way/Red Cross Campaign. In addition to the election of board members, local companies were presented awards in recognition of their support of the United Way/Red Cross Campaign.

Rev. Frank Nichols, 2002 United Way board chair, presided over the election of new officers and members. Elected as board officers for 2003 were: Lyndon Billings, board chair; Jodi Gaines, vice chair; Rebecca Dillenbeck, secretary; Gerry Golden, treasurer.

The following individuals were elected to serve on the board of directors: Karen Banker, Lyndon Billings, Casey Calabria, Jodi Gaines, Robbi Hess, Ben Jones, Judith Koehler, and Angie Schnibley.

Frank Nichols was honored for his commitment and service to the Eastern Orleans community and United Way as 2002 board chair.

The 2003 United Way/Red Cross Campaign was successful in raising $138,000 for area health and human services. Campaign chairs Susan Shuler, HSBC Bank, Holley branch manager, and Fran and Ray Lissow, owners, Lissow Development, applauded the efforts of the community and recognized the support of local companies.

United Way's most prestigious award, the Award of Excellence, is presented to employee groups who have raised their level of giving and have a participation level of 50 percent or greater.

Awards of Excellence were presented to the Holley Central School District, Kendall Central School District, Orleans County Employees and Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.

Certificates of Achievement are presented to companies who excel in their efforts to run outstanding campaigns by raising at least $500 and achieving a participation level of 50 percent or greater.

Certificates of Achievement were presented to Albion Central School District Dale's Market, Genesee Orleans Ministry of Concern, Remley & Company, Video Station of Albion.

United Way also recognizes the support of employee campaigns having 100 percent participation. Employee groups receiving this honor presented with a certificate in recognition of 100 percent participation. Receiving recognition were Dale's Market and Pawlak's Save-A-Lot.
