The following students were recently named to Northeastern University's dean's list for the fall quarter 2002, which ended in December 2002.

•Rochester resident Jennifer Sarkis, a Northeastern University student majoring in mechanical engineering.

•Spencerport resident Sarah Taber, a Northeastern University student majoring in psychology.

•Spencerport resident Katlyn Marple, a Northeastern University student majoring in undecided major.

To achieve the dean's list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.25 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C during the course of their college career.


Michelle L. McAndrews, an education major at the University of Dayton, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael McAndrews, Clark Street, Spencerport.

Christopher W. McKnight, an engineering major at the University of Dayton, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick McKnight, Coleman Avenue, Spenceprort.

In order to be eligible for the dean's list, a student must achieve a superior academic record and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher throughout the semester.


Mary Snyder, Lawrence Road, Brockport, will receive a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Syracuse University Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science in ceremonies scheduled for May 11.


Geoffrey Goodwin, Hill Road, Hilton, has been named to the dean's list for the first-quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A third-year student in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, Goodwin is studying computer science.

Goodwin is the son of Robert and Linda Goodwin of Hilton and a 2000 graduate of Hilton High School.


Carrie Lynn Easton of Chili Avenue Extension, Churchville, is a fall 2002 graduate at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi, receiving an AAS degree in individual studies.

Easton also qualified for the high honors list for the fall 2002 semester. To qualify for the high honors list, a student must have an academic average of at least 3.75.


Katherine A. Fantauzzo, Rochester, daughter of Frank and Ferne Fantauzzo, was named to the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2002-03 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition.


Robert W. Blake, Jr., Ph.D., a 1979 graduate of Brockport High School, is the recent author of the book An Enactment of Science: a Dramatic Balance among Curriculum, Context, and Teacher Beliefs. Dr. Blake examines the specific role of an urban sixth-grade teacher as she engages her students in the learning of science. The book was published by Peter Lang Publishing, Inc., New York.

Dr. Blake is an assistant professor of science education at Towson University, Maryland. He received his Ph.D. in curriculum design: science education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.


Erin Dorney, daughter of Jay and Pat Dorney, Morton Road, Hamlin, has been named to the fall 2002 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Dorney is a communications/English major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


Katrina Ruth Schmidt, daughter of Patrick and Kim Schmidt, Ogden, has been named to the fall 2002 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.

Schmidt, a sophomore, is a childhood/special education major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


Emily Sarazyn of North Chili was named to the dean's list for the fall of 2002 at Geneva College. Dean's list status is awarded to students who earn a 3.6 grade point average or better.


Bill Howard has received the 2002 Platinum Chairman's Circle Award from Prudential Real Estate Affiliates. Howard's performance in the past year placed him in the top one percent of all sales associates within the Prudential Real Estate Network. Howard will be attending the 2003 Sales Convention being held March 13 in Las Vegas where he will be recognized for his outstanding accomplishment.

Howard also received the 2002 Sales Master Platinum Award. This award is presented each year at the GRAR annual meeting and award ceremony that was in November at the Holidome.

The Zenith Award is presented to those agents who have closed 35 or more transactions in a one-year period. Howard was presented the award for the ninth consecutive year by the Rochester chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors. "The Breakfast of Champions" ceremony was held January 17.

Howard is the broker/owner of Prudential KARES Rochester Center Business Park. He has been in the real estate business for over 19 years.


Army Pvt. Adam D. Ellsworth has graduated from the land combat electronic missile system repairer advanced individual training (AIT) course at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama.

He is the son of Erich S. Ellsworth of Hamlin and Carol J. Ellsworth of Cedar Circle, Spencerport.

The private is a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School.


John M. Emerson has been promoted to the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army.

Emerson is a crew chief assigned to the 159th Aviation regiment at Giebelstadt Army Air Field, Germany. He has six years of military service.

He is the son of Neva F. and stepson of Bruce F. Hoyt of Butcher Road, Hilton.


Army Pfc. Sarah K. Hicks has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina.

Hicks is the daughter of Shari Hicks of Spencerport. She graduated from Spencerport High School in 1998, and in 2002 received a bachelor's degree from Mansfield University, Pennsylvania.
