Laurel Bellacosa has been employed at Lakeside since 1985. She resides in Lyndonville. Joan Zavitz arrived at Lakeside in 1987, and lives in Brockport. The recipients were presented with a plaque and a monetary gift. Their names are also added to a special Excellence in Nursing Award plaque listing previous winners which is prominently displayed in the hospital.

Each year the medical staff selects two nurses to receive the award.
