Area contractor joins Glenn-Douglas Constructors

Glenn-Douglas Constructors (GDC), based in Honeoye Falls, has added its newest member to their team. Adam Johnson, owner of Earth Movers, of Holley, has been hired to add his experience to the general contracting business and expand its Facilities Maintenance operation. Glenn Tvrdik, president of GDC, and Johnson have a great deal of experience working together, having completed several local projects together. Johnson will continue to work from his Holley office pursuing both local and regional projects.

Glenn-Douglas Constructors is a commercial/industrial general contractor providing a full range of construction services. Among past projects are construction of the new Holley Cold Storage Building, numerous food markets, tenant spaces in area shopping plazas, office renovation, warehouses, apartment buildings and construction for national retailers. GDC specializes in design/build work, where they provide design services before they build a project. "The cost savings to our customers by providing design/build services is substantial," Johnson said.

Johnson said a personal goal of his is to participate in local projects in and around Orleans County, where he has resided most of his life. "I have just a little extra pride in the jobs I do close to home, because those projects are not only enjoyed by customers, but family and friends as well," he said. "The number of qualified and experienced commercial/industrial general contractors is low in this area. If you look at any of the commercial/industrial projects under way right now, most are being done by out of town contractors, or by residential contractors trying to fill the void. I will change that."

Building local projects includes using local labor and suppliers. "Glenn and I decided to develop two offices, with the main office located in Honeoye Falls for now. As things develop, we plan to add more people to our operation. Naturally, with me developing business in this area, I will include members of the local labor force as well as the many suppliers which already exist."

"I am very excited about this change. It is a great opportunity for me. My roots have grown deep here and now I have the chance to develop and improve the area where I grew up, and where my kids will grow up," Johnson said.

While Earth Movers will complete contracts already under way, including snow removal, all new work will be taken on by Glenn-Douglas Constructors. "I want to reassure every business that I have worked with in the past that I am not abandoning them. This opportunity allows me to do what I have always done, with many additional capabilities. I will continue providing the same excellent service I always have," Adam says.
