Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 4-8 holds year-end awards

Flotilla 4-8 stationed in Hamlin held its year-end awards on January 27 at Hilton Family Diner in Hilton. Over 60 personal awards were given that included flotilla and division recognition.

Flotilla 4-8 was recognized as "Flotilla of the Year" for the division having logged over 16,000 volunteer hours to the Coast Guard and to the community.

A few of the outstanding Division and Station Rochester Awards were given to:

  • Marsha Carpenter - Letter of Appreciation - OIC Station Rochester
  • James Fischer - Division 4-Certificate of Appreciation for 80 hours of Public Education in 2002
  • Larry Gore - Letter of Appreciation from U.S. Coast Guard - Group Buffalo
  • Bonnie and Roger Howlett - Division 4 Certificate of Appreciation for a combined total of 93 hours Public Education.
  • Joe Marchese - Station Rochester Crewman of the year 2002.
  • Richard Popowych - Station Rochester Auxiliarist of the year 2002.
  • Carol Urgola - Division 4 Outstanding Auxiliarist of the year 2002.
  • Peter Urgola - Flotilla Outstanding Staff Officer of the year 2002.
  • Craig Wilson - Station Rochester Coxswain of the year 2002.
