Nelson leads Hawks senior night win

Holley senior Matt Nelson wears number 23, so it was more than appropriate that he finished with 23 points on Senior Night as Holley defeated Kendall 65-49 February 11.

The Hawks led by twelve points at half-time, but the Eagles closed to within four points midway through the third quarter thanks to a 7-0 run led by a three-pointer and Brett Jacobson's free throw, steal and lay-up and breakaway lay-up. Holley let Kendall get no closer, however, by scoring nine of the last thirteen points in the quarter to lead by eleven.

The Holley defense held Kendall to just eight points in the final quarter and spread their offense around getting points from Steve Bower, Nelson, Bryan Beckingham and William Jolly.

Junior Pat Price nailed three three-pointers and finished with eleven points for the Hawks. Bower scored ten points and Beckingham added eight. For Kendall, Jacobson led with ten points to go with Justin Manners nine points while Tyler Northrup and Keith Lowry each had eight.
