Safe school ambassadors offered training

Bullying and harassment problems in schools and communities are the focus of a two-day training program offered through the Brockport Central School District.

Community Matters, a non-profit organization from California, will present "Safe School Ambassadors Training" for middle and high school students beginning March 10. Thirty six student opinion leaders and six staff members from each school will attend the training at the Brockport Community Center on Lake Road.

Students will learn intervention techniques, keep a log of bullying activities they witness and interventions used, meet with teachers to refresh skills and review logs for possible patterns. School staff will use this information to make necessary changes in the school environment.

Trained students, staff and Community Matters will present to K-12 teachers on Superintendent's Conference Day, March 14. Contact Karen Breslawski at 637-1815 or Debbie Moyer at 637-1943.
