Richard Ugino, of Hilton, a junior majoring in musical theater in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University, is performing in the Syracuse University Drama Department's production of "Moon for the Misbegotten," which runs from February 14-23. Ugino appears as T. Stedman Harder in the play.


The following students were named presidential scholars or named to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester at Clarkson University. Presidential scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 grade-point average (GPA) and carry at least 14 credit hours. Dean's list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 GPA and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

•Jacqueline M. Kesselring, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Kesselring, Widger Road, Spencerport, a sophomore majoring in bio-molecular science.
•Matthew C. Stafford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stafford, Kristin Drive, Rochester, a freshman majoring in computer engineering.


Marie E. Lloyd, Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list for her outstanding academic achievement for the fall 2002 semester from Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University.


Leichtner Studios Inc., of Rochester, received several prestigious awards at the Senior Photographers International (SPI) 2003 Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida in January.

One of their photographers, Tobie-Nicholle Bridges, a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, received three blue-ribbon merits for her images. Bridges, who lives in Spencerport, joined Leichtner in 2002. This was her first time entering the competition.


Jason R. Diedrich, son of Robert and Dianne Diedrich, Butcher Road, Hilton, received a doctor of chiropractic medicine degree from Sherman College of Straight Chiropratic in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on December 19, 2002.

He is a 1990 graduate of Hilton High School.


Jacquelyn Butler of Peachy Road, Bergen, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester at Daemen College.

She is an early and special education major and a member of the class of 2004.


St. Bonaventure University has named the following students to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester.
Leslie A. Morey, child of Mr. and Mrs. George Morey of Hamlin. Leslie is a physical education major.
Katherine E. Petit, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Petit, of Spencerport. She is a journalism/mass communications major.
Holly M. Volkmuth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Volkmuth, of Spencerport. She is an elementary education/ special education major.
Jason R. Volkmuth, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Volkmuth of Spencerport. He is a physical education major.
A student must achieve a grade point average of at least 3.25 in order to qualify.


Jared Unterborn, Walker Lake Ontario Road, Hilton, has been named to the dean's list for the fall quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A senior-year student in the School of Printing Management and Sciences, Unterborn is studying print management.

He is the son of Glen and Pat Unterborn and is a 1999 graduate of Hilton High School.


Anjoli Sucy, Hilton, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Juniata College. Sucy is a 2002 graduate of Hilton Central High School.

The dean's list recognizes grade point averages of at least 3.6 out of a possible 4.0.


Tiffany Kwiatkowski, daughter of Mark and Bette Kwiatkowski, Emerald Point, Chili, has been named to the fall 2002 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Kwiatkowski, a junior, is a psychology major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.

Andrew James Woodbridge is a January graduate of Lycoming College. He received a bachelor of arts degree in theater design. He is a resident of Spencerport.


Mary Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hamilton of North Chili, graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, had a leading role for the production of "Honk" held in Greer Auditorium on the campus of Central Christian College of Kansas on Friday, February 7. Hamilton is a senior at Central Christian College majoring in liberal studies.


Springfield College has named Richard Albano of Spencerport to the dean's list for academic excellence for the fall 2002 term. Albano is a sophomore student majoring in history.


Shannon Lynn Granville, Spencerport, was named to the dean's list at the College of William and Mary for the fall 2002 semester.

In order to achieve dean's list status, a full-time degree seeking undergraduate student in the School of Arts and Sciences must take at least 12 credit hours and earn a 3.6 Quality Point Average during the semester.


Susan J. Pelo, of Churchville, daughter of Carol Marie M. Pelo and Edward A. Pelo, has been named to the fall term dean's list at Hartwick College. Pelo is majoring in political science. She has participated in women's varsity swimming and diving, student senate, student union, Big Brother/Big Sister program, Champs, and Alpha Omicron Pi.

Inclusion on Hartwick's dean's list is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 grade point average, based on a 4.0 scale.


Heather Smith, of Churchville, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Monroe Community College in Rochester.


Samantha Gabel, of Denishire Drive, Rochester, has been named to the dean's list at Daemen College for the fall 2002 semester. She is a physical therapy-natural science major.


Cherisse Rehman, of Stony Point Road, Ogden, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at SUNY Geneseo. Rehman, a 2000 graduate of Churchville-Chili, is majoring in elementary education with dual certification in special ed. She was also named to the 2002 SUNYAC Women's Volleyball All Conference Team, West Division.

She is the daughter of Vern and Pat Rehman.


Melissa Hudson of Spencerport, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester at SUNY Brockport.

She is a 2000 graduate from Churchville-Chili High School and is majoring in psychology.


Mary Flannery, M.S., P.T. has recently joined the staff of Spencerport Physical Therapy, 37 North Union Street, Spencerport. Flannery is a graduate of Nazareth College. Her main interests in the area of physical therapy include industrial rehab and hand therapy.

Flannery is a native of Ontario, NY in Wayne County. Her background also includes work in other areas of aerobics and fitness instruction.


Lester A. Wise was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at SUNY Morrisville. The diesel technology major is a resident of Hamlin.

Ålso named was Gregory G. Schwind, of Hilton, an engineering science major.

To be named to the dean's list, a student must achieve an average of 3.0 to 3.99 for the semester and complete 12 credit hours.


Lisa M. Greene has been appointed Information Officer with the Rochester Office of the Mental Hygiene Legal Service (MHLS) for the Fourth Judicial Department. The Rochester office oversees the agency's affairs in Monroe, Ontario, Steuben, Seneca, Wayne and Yates Counties.

Greene received her master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of Rochester, where she was awarded the Rhush Rhees Scholarship. Greene is also a certified rehabilitation counselor. Prior to joining MHLS, Greene was on the staff of Park Ridge Health Systems, where she was a primary therapist. Previously, she also worked with the Threshold Center for Youth, and the University of Rochester Counseling Center.


Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has announced the names of students who made the institute's dean's list for the fall semester. The dean's list recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grade below C.

Jenna Christine Bower, West Albion Street, Holley, has been named to the dean's list for the first-quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A first-year student in the School of Printing Management and Sciences, she is studying graphic media. Bower is the daughter of Mark and Karen Bower and a 2002 graduate of Holley High School.


Niagara University announces the following area students were named to the academic dean's list for the fall 2002 semester. To qualify, students must attain a 3.25 academic grade-point average for the semester.

Amanda Morse, daughter of Harvey and Ruth Morse, of Bergen, is a recipient of the dean's award for academic excellence during the fall 2002 semester at Colgate University, where she is a member of the class of 2005. To be eligible for the dean's award, a Colgate student must achieve a 3.30 or higher average while carrying a full course load of four courses per semester.

She is a 2001 graduate of Byron-Bergen Central School, and concentrating in political science at Colgate. Morse is captain of the Run Club Team and Philanthropy Chair of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.


Air Force Airman Richard L. Peterson, son of Richard and Sindy Peterson, of Brookedge Drive, Hamlin, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

Peterson is a 2002 graduate of Brockport High School.


Army Specialist Sarah K. Hicks has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. Hicks is the daughter of Tom and Shari Hicks of Spencerport. She graduated from Spencerport High School in 1998, and in 2002 received a bachelor of science degree from Mansfield University, Pennsylvania. She is currently stationed at the Presidio, Monterey, California, attending the Defense Language Institute.


Cpl. Todd A. Luna, United States Marine Corps, son of Alex and Karen Luna, Greece, and a 2000 graduate of Hilton High School, has recently been deployed from MCAS, Miramar, San Diego, California to the Air Force Base in Kuwait. His estimated stay in the Middle East is six to eight months.

In his third year of service with the Marine Corps Band, Cpl. Luna has performed at various activities across the United States including this year's Rose Parade in Pasadena, California and the 2002 Autumn Festival in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
