Lynch puts Cadets in semi-finals

"I took a look and nobody was open, so I just shot. Coach told us before the game that he had a pretty good glove hand so I shot to the blocker pad side." Greece Arcadia transfer Adam Lynch took a pass from Joe Patarino, skated down the left wing and scored to give the Hilton Cadets a 2-1 high school hockey victory over Penfield in the sectional playoffs and a trip to the Class A semi-finals for the first time in the team's 15 year history.

Hilton took a 1-0 lead in the second period with Patarino and Lynch assisting on Jim Burgio's power play goal at 10:39. In the third period, the Patriots tied the game with a shorthanded goal at 9:06, but Lynch waited just 34 seconds to help Hilton retake the lead for good.

But the end did not come easily. With 1:50 left in regulation the Cadets took a minor penalty and, moments later, Penfield pulled their goaltender for a six-on-four advantage. The penalty-killing unit of Kyle Davis, Mark Steiner, Lynch and Patarino along with Jamie Dill coming out of the penalty box for the final twenty seconds, held the Patriots without a shot to preserve the win.

Hilton goaltender Mike Collichio stopped 21 shots in the win. The Cadets move on to face rival Brockport in the semi-finals.
