Nativity teens seek to ride the River of Life

High school age members of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Youth Group are embarking on a fund raising campaign to enable them to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference to be held in Houston, Texas, November 13-16.

The biennial conference, with a 2003 theme of the River of Life, will include concerts, nationally recognized speakers, and workshops on many topics. As part of the Rochester Diocese, the Nativity BVM youth will be accompanied by Bishop Matthew Clark and up to 750 area teens. The Brockport church hopes to send about 10 teenagers plus chaperones to the conference. The cost to attend will be about $700 per person.

The first fundraiser being undertaken is the sale of stock certificates. The purchase of a share of stock entitles the bearer to a written summary of the participant’s experience following the trip. Stocks can be purchased in any dollar amount. Each stock owner receives an official certificate.
