Ordination of new pastor announced

The congregation of Concordia Lutheran Church, Brockport, is pleased to announce that Vicar Roger A. Kimmel has accepted the call to be pastor at Concordia. A Service of Ordination and Installation will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 30, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 6601 Fourth Section Road, Brockport. The community is invited to attend this service to celebrate and greet Reverend Kimmel and his family during refreshments following the service. Area clergy will be participating. Music will be provided by the church choir and by the Bell Choir of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hilton.

Reverend Roger Kimmel and his wife, Sharon, live in the town of Clarkson where they built a home in 1985. They have three children, Heidi, Andrew and Katie. He is a native of Hilton, where he graduated from high school. In 1968, he entered military officer's training school and served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Returning to Rochester, he attended RIT, Monroe Community College and Brockport State University, graduating with an Applied Science degree.

Reverend Kimmel worked at Eastman Kodak as a Worldwide General Manager for Entertainment Imaging, developing new business opportunities. While in employment he began his seminary work through the DELTO program (Distance Education Leading To Ordination) in 1996 and graduated from Fort Wayne Seminary March 8, 2003. His vicarage at Concordia Lutheran, Brockport, was under the direction of Reverend Albert Zoller, St. Paul Lutheran, Hilton, where Reverend Kimmel and his wife were members. Mrs. Kimmel is a kindergarten teacher at St. Paul's Lutheran School, Hilton.
