Logel announces run for Chili town supervisor post

County Legislator Tracy Logel (R/C-Chili) has launched her campaign to run for the Chili supervisor post.

"Recent events have made it clear that the Town of Chili needs new leadership," Logel said. "I think our town government needs to be more business friendly and people friendly. The citizens of this community deserve better."

Logel argues that more can be done to keep town spending and taxes under control, noting that under the current administration, town spending has increased by 10 percent and taxes have risen by more than 8 percent in just three years. Logel noted that town spending and taxes have increased at the same time that the supervisor raised his own salary, added seven administrative positions to the town payroll, and handed out double-digit salary increases to selected employees.

"The Town of Chili needs someone who will put the needs of the taxpayers first," Logel said. "My first priority will be to put the brakes on town spending and reduce administrative costs to keep our town affordable for working families, small business owners, and seniors."

Logel cited a recent controversy surrounding the imprisonment of a 78-year old for failing to plant trees and fix a gate on her property as a factor in her decision to run. "Like so many of my neighbors, I have grown more and more disappointed by the mismanagement and heavy handed decision making of the current administration."

"We need a supervisor who understands that you need to work cooperatively with citizens and business owners, rather than threatening and intimidating them," said Logel, a 37-year resident of the town.

Logel has 12 years of experience representing the Town of Chili as a member of the town board and currently represents the 3rd District in the Monroe County Legislature. "I appreciate the encouragement I have received from my friends and neighbors," Logel said, "and I have the skills and experience necessary to change the way the Town of Chili does business."
