Orchestras and ensembles auditions announced

The Hochstein School of Music and Dance is now accepting applications from instrumental students in grades 4 through 12 who are interested in orchestral and smaller (chamber) ensemble playing during the 2003-2004 academic year. The deadline for application is April 26, 2003. Auditions will be held May 16 through 22 at Hochstein. Students who play violin, viola, cello, bass, woodwinds, brass and percussion are encouraged to apply. Openings for 2003-2004 exist in the following ensembles:

  • Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra: for students in grades 7-12, NYSSMA Level 6
  • Hochstein Philharmonia: for students in grades 7-10, NYSSMA Level 4-6
  • Hochstein Sinfonia: for students in grades 4-8, NYSSMA Level 3-5
  • Hochstein Scholarship Chamber Ensemble Program: for students in grades 9-12, NYSSMA Level 6
  • Hochstein/Eastman School CED Chamber Ensemble Program: for students in grades 6-12, NYSSMA Level 3-6
  • Hochstein String Orchestra: This ensemble is for students in any grade who play and read at NYSSMA Level 1-4. No audition is required and the application deadline does not apply.
