AREA

•Lawrence, Sarah J. Symes, of Swansboro, North Carolina, died March 16, 2003, after battling pancreatic cancer for five months. Born in Lockport in 1928, she lived in Spencerport from 1950 to 1963. She was an artist and owner of the Sarah Lawrence Gallery in Swansboro.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Lawrence of Rochester, Susan Murray of Chicago, and Betsy Lawrence of Swansboro; three grandchildren, Kathryn Fryer and Benjamin and William Murray; her brother Harold Symes, Jr. of Sterling, Virginia; and her sister Susan Campbell of Naples, Florida, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial Celebration of Sarah's life was held at her home for family and friends. Determined that a Hospice House be built to serve the needs of the area, Sarah requested that donations be made to the Foundation for Hospice, 3391 Henderson Drive Extension, Jacksonville, North Carolina 28546. ALBION

•Pellegrino, Dominic "Dom" J., died March 29, 2003 at the Orleans County Nursing Home after a long illness. He was a former foreman at A&P Produce, a member of St. Joseph's Church and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Rose, whom he married in 1941; son, Peter (Diane) Pellegrino; daughter, Elizabeth (Gary) Westlund of Albion; grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Frank) Chiappone of Greece, Gregory Pellegrino of Brockport, Lisa Mitchell of Albion, Timothy Westlund of Albion; great grandchildren Kaci and John Chiappone and Kendra Morrison; sister-in-law, Francis Pellegrino; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers, Frank, Carl, Joseph; and a sister, Katherine DeLuca.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said April 1 at St. Joseph's Church. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the charity of one's choice.


•Wilkins, Kathleen "Kay," age 85, died April 1, 2003 in Orchard Manor Nursing Home following a long illness. She is predeceased by her husband, Harry, in 1987. She is survived by her son Paul (Shirley) Wilkins of Albion; three grandchildren, Douglas (Dawn) Wilkins of Michigan, Jacqueline Wilkins of Albion, Paula (John) Doyle of Albion; eight great grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Jim) Halstead of Albion. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, Edgar (Helen) Wilkins of Albion, Arthur Wilkins of Medina; sisters-in-law, Edna Traub and Gertrude Wilkins, both of Albion, Helen Dugan of Alexander; many nieces and nephews. A son, Kenneth, and sister, Geraldine Raudonat, predeceased her.

Funeral Services were held April 4 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Albion. Interment Mt. Albion Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Orchard Manor Nursing Home Activities Department, or Hospice of Orleans County.


BERGEN

•Rusk, Albert R., March 27, 2003 at age 93. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth M. Rusk; his son, Darryl (Linda) Rusk of LeRoy; his daughter Shari (Roger) Christensen of Ft. Collins, Colorado; his four grandchildren, Dawn (Alan) McKay, Denise (Kevin) Oliver, Scott (Sandy) Adams and Jeff (Kelly) Adams; eight great grandchildren. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of Harvey C. Noone American Legion Post #954.

Funeral Services were held March 31 at Walker Brothers Co. Funeral Home Inc., Churchville. Interment Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. Contributions can be made to the Bergen Fire Department Rescue Squad in his memory.


BROCKPORT

•Warnick, Doris M., On March 27, 2003 at the age of 76. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark (Ronda), Phillip (Mary Ann) of Washington; daughter, Pamela Moyer of Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Samantha, Caitlin and Nicole.

Funeral Services were held March 31 at Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., Brockport. Interment, private. Contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation in her memory.


CLARENDON

•Chugg, Betty Carol, 76, died March 27, 2003 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was a fourth grade teacher at Albion Middle School for 17 years before retiring. She was active in 4-H for 15 years, serving as a leader; a lifetime member of the Eastern Star; a member of the Brockport United Methodist Church and the Retired Teacher's Association. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harold; son, David (Sheila) Chugg of Caledonia; daughter, Linda (John) Tabbitas of Brockport; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Sheila Kenney, predeceased her.

Funeral Services were held March 29 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Holley. Interment, Hillside Cemetery. Memorials can be made to a charity of one's choice.


•Sommerfeldt, Frederick "Fred" H., Age 73 died March 30, 2003 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Survived by wife of over 50 years, Charlotte; sons, Roger Sommerfeldt of Barre, Marty (Kathleen) Sommerfeldt of Kent, Darryl (Donna) Sommerfeldt of Clarendon; daughters, Marcia Makriginnis of Patras, Greece, Cindy (John) Waldron of Clarendon, Vicki (Craig) Sauls of Kendall, Roxanne (Tom) Gould; 19 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Taif of Brockport. A brother, Norman Sommerfeldt, and a sister, Ruth Blosenhauer, predeceased him.

Funeral Services were held April 3 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Holley. Interment, North Byron Cemetery in later spring. Memorials can be made to Lakeside Memorial Hospital, ICU Department.


HILTON

•Hoyt, Robert W., April 1, 2003, age 70. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Hoyt; children, Bill (Laurie) Hoyt, Jim Hoyt, Patty (John) Peckham, Christine (Roger) Miller; brothers, Bruce (Niva) Hoyt, Ken (Tam) Hoyt; sister, Joy (Warren) Cleveland; nine grandchild-ren; two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Bob was a Veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Purple Heart, Army of Occupation Medal and numerous other medals. He was a life member of the Hilton Fire Department.

Funeral Services were held April 5 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Interment, Parma Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hilton Fire Department or Hilton Ambulance Corps in his memory.


•Jacob, Evelyn, April 1, 2003 age 66. Survived by her husband, Arnold; children, Susan Dill, Lianna (Steven) Bauer, Arnold (Melissa) Jacob, Peter (Debbie) Jacob; sister, Eileen (Werner) Menke; grandchildren, Matt and Andy Dill, Rachel, Tyler, Kristen, Jenna Jacob; many nieces and nephews.

•Wehle, Albert G., March 30, 2003, age 59. Survived by his wife, Susan Savage Wehle; children, Elizabeth Wehle, Alicia (Ryan Messenger) Wehle; sisters, Marion (Gordon) Gutzmer, Arlene (James) Schreib; mother-in-law, Marian Savage; brothers-in-law, Steven Savage, David (Colette) Savage; Auntie Alice; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Mass was said April 3 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hamlin. Interment Parma Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Wehle Children's Education Fund in his memory.


SPENCERPORT

•Baumgartner, Carl N., March 23, 2003 at age 92. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Baumgartner; his son, Robert Smith; his two granddaughters, Maureen (Werner) Schmidt and Marci (Mark) Cooper; five great grandchildren, Amanda, Daniel, Taz, Hannah and Cali; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass was held March 29 at St. John's Church, Spencerport. Contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice in his memory.


•Crawford, James R., Suddenly, March 25, 2003 at age 64. He was predeceased by his parents and his grandson, Joseph James NaDell. He is survived by his wife Joan M. Crawford; three daughters, Karen (Tony) NaDell, Kathleen (Sean) O'Brien and Jean Craddock; his mother-in-law, June Seuberlich; brother-in-law, Paul (Dianna) Seuberlich; seven grandchildren; a niece, nephews and many friends. He was the owner of Crawford's Service Station on Buffalo Road in Gates for many years.

Funeral Services and interment were private. Contributions can be made to the School of the Holy Childhood, 100 Groton Parkway, Rochester, NY 14623 in his memory.


•Pullen, Dorothy B., March 30, 2003, age 96. Predeceased by her husband, Milton V. Pullen, sister, Margaret Hagreen. Survived by her children, Kathleen (Bill) Rogers, Mark (Faye) Pullen; sisters, Bernadine Rosequist, Harriet Adams; brothers, Foster Thayer Jr., Vernon (Harriet) Thayer, Lee Thayer; grandchildren, Steven (Susan) Pullen, Chris (Sheri Petering) Pullen, David (Vicki) Rogers; great-grandchildren, Tim and Krista Pullen, Drew and Samantha Rogers; many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a retired English teacher from Greece Central School District.
