The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Nicole Garwol has been named an All-American Scholar.

The USAA has established the All-American Scholar Award Program to offer deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines. The All-American Scholars must earn a 3.3, or higher, grade point average. Only scholars selected by a school instructor, counselor or other qualified sponsor are accepted.

Garwol attends Spencerport High School. Her name will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published nationally.

Garwol is the daughter of Pat and Mike Garwol of Rochester.


Rebecca A. Volta of King Road, Churchville, a junior finance major, and Jennifer C. Rohr of North Greece, a senior psychology major, are taking part in internships this semester through SUNY Oswego's Experience-Based Education Program.

The Experience-Based Education Program at Oswego places students in internships that allow them to earn college credits while garnering valuable "real life" experience.


Patrick Hastings of Nothnagle Realtors has been presented the #1 Sales Agent March 2003 award in the Chili-Ogden Office. His sales for the month were $1,405,576. This is his personal record high for monthly production.

In his 25-year career with Nothnagle, Hastings has received several awards including the Salesmaster Gold award from the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors every year since 1998, given for having closed 60 or more transactions in a 12 month period; and the Zenith Award presented by the Women's Council of Realtors. He was the 2002 recipient of Nothnagle's Top Agent in the Chili-Ogden office, an award he also earned in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. Hastings earned the Top 25 Club Award for 2002, presented to Nothnagle's 25 most successful realtors, out of a company of over 500 agents.

Hastings served as manager of one of Nothnagle's local offices for five years, served on the board of directors for the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors and is a notary public.

The Churchville resident has been licensed since 1978.


Private Second Class Eric Mortimer has finished basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He is a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School and the son of Frank and Cynthia Mortimer of Hilton.


Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Matthew M. Lill has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Lill is the son of Michael and Donna Lill of Glidden Road, Holley. He is a 2002 graduate of Holley Junior Senior High School.


Army Spc. Joseph M. Lombardi has been deployed to Iraq to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a combat engineer with the 4th Infantry Division, 588th Engineering Company.

Lombardi is the son of Al and Tans Lombardi, Chambers Street, Spencerport, and a 2000 graduate of Spencerport High School.
