Sidewalk project receives support

Monroe County Legislator Tracy Logel (R/C-Chili) says she supports a proposed sidewalk extension project in the Town of Chili.

The project, which will extend sidewalks at the intersection of Chili-Scottsville Road and Chili Avenue to Beaver Road and Autumn Chapel Way is on a list of proposed projects Monroe County will submit for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.

The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development funds the Community Development Block Grant, which Monroe County has distributed to participating towns since 1973. Funds are used for projects to benefit lower income families, elderly and disabled residents. The federally funded program will provide $50,000 to the Town of Chili as part of its pedestrian access program.

The Monroe County Legislature is expected to vote on the proposal at its June 10 Legislature meeting. The county is seeking public comment on the project until Friday, May 16.

Written comments can be directed to the Office of Community Development, Monroe County Department of Planning and Development, 8100 City Place, 50 West Main Street, Rochester, NY 14614. Comments must be received by May 16.
