Local student nominated for award

Spencerport High School student Franscesca Iraci has been nominated for the 2003 Young Woman of Distinction Award. Modeled after the ATHENA Award given each year to an outstanding professional woman in the community, the Young Woman of Distinction Award is designed to recognize young women in their junior or senior year of high school who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, volunteer service to the community and exceptional leadership qualities.

The recipient will be honored at Women of Distinction: ATHENA Leaders of Today and Tomorrow. This reception will feature a presentation by Ursula M. Burns, the 2003 ATHENA recipient and will be held on Friday, April 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Bob Hastings Automotive Group, 800 Panorama Trail, Penfield.

The recipient will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Entré Computer Services in honor of the IT Woman of the Year, who will also be honored at the reception. Two finalists will also be awarded $500 each from the Nancy Woodhull Foundation.
