Two conflict management trainings
offered business owners

The Center for Dispute Settlement (CDS) will offer two trainings in May designed especially for small business owners, managers and supervisors with the goal of teaching employee conflict resolution skills and techniques to reduce conflict in the workplace.

Seven-Step Negotiation Model will be offered Monday and Tuesday, May 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 12-hour training will provide a working knowledge of the seven step negotiation process, and identify skills needed to apply the model to everyday work situations through practice. During the negotiation process, disputing parties work together to gain consensus and compromise by discussing facts, feelings, interest, needs, perceptions, ideas and solutions resulting in a probable win/win situation. The trainer is Dr. Bernadette Poole-Tracy.

Principles of Mediation will be held May 19 through May 23. Individuals will be prepared to facilitate the mediation process and/or carry the basic skills back to their organization or business.

It will provide a working knowledge of the seven-step mediation process, examine the role and functions of mediators, and identify skills required to effectively mediate and apply skills through simulation. Trainer is Andrew Thomas, CDS Executive Director, NYS Unified Court System Office of ADR Mediation Trainer.

Both trainings are held at CDS, 300 State Street, Suite 301, Rochester. There are reduced group rates for three or more persons attending from the same company. Fees: $250 Negotiation Training; $425 POM.
