Holley students
make a difference
for United Way

Holley sixth-graders (l-r) Brian Callaghan and Jenney Rae Siplo present a giant check in the amount of $536.91 to Lucine Kauffman, regional coordinator for United Way of Eastern Orleans and Genesee County. The students held a penny and nickel drive as a community service project, which was part of the "People Who've Made a Difference" Project ADEPT (A Diversified Enrichment Program for the Talented) through BOCES 2. The money will be used to fund Explorer programs at local fire departments. "Often adults speak of investing in our children because they are our future," said Kauffman. "This group of students has shown that children can make a positive impact by investing in their community in the present."
