Bellinger leads Rangers

It had been two years and 25 matches since Churchville-Chili's Chris Jarkowski had lost a singles match. On this day, he had already won the first set 6-3 and the second set, with fellow senior Eric Bellinger of Spencerport, was tied 3-3 and was on his way to win 26 in a row. But from that point on, Bellinger took over using a defensive lob and charging the net in winning the final three games of the second set and taking the third 6-1 at first singles to lead the Rangers to a 5-2 win over the Saints.

Spencerport junior Eric Bodhorn won at second singles 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 and junior Brian Koehler took three sets to win at fourth singles 7-6, 3-6, 7-5. Churchville sophomore Chris Dettority swept his third singles match 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles, the Rangers second team of Paul Hunter and Geoff Lippa had all three of their games go tiebreaker winning 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 and, at third doubles, Zach DeRuyter and Chris Pels won 6-1,7-5.

The Saints first doubles team of freshman Brian Conway and senior David Shewan won their match 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. The Rangers improved to 3-0 with the win while the Saints fell to 1-2.
