Boaters should review travel to Canada regs

The area Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary advise boaters of the requirements for reporting back into the United States after travel to Canada.

Boaters must report to an INS videophone to report in from Canada or possess an I-68 Card. The videophones are located in Wilson, Olcott, Point Breeze, Sodus Bay and Oswego. I-68 cards can be obtained in person from INS at the Lewiston Bridge in Niagara Falls. Boaters must appear in person, be photographed and fingerprinted, and have three forms of identification.

I-68 and Customs cards will be available at the Customs office located inside the Rochester International Airport Terminal in the International Arrivals Hall, on the lower level, on the following dates only: Tuesday, May 20, 6 to 9:30 p.m.; Thursday, May 22, 6 to 9:30 p.m.

I-68s are valid for one year only and must be renewed in person.

Boaters should also be aware that during times that the nation's security level rises to orange, the only place boaters can return to the US across Lake Ontario is through INS at Alexandria Bay. Boaters are also required to declare back in with Customs in addition to the above.
