Local students perform a wide variety of musical hits

On June 7 and 8, the curtain will go up on Broadway In Brockport 2003 at the Brockport High School LGI. A review of songs and scenes from the Broadway stage will be performed. This year's theme is "An Evening of Sondheim." Stephen Sondheim is one of the most unique and influential musical composers of our time. From his beginnings as a lyricist for such musicals as "West Side Story" and "Gypsy" to his own works like "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," "Company" and "Sweeney Todd."

Julie Izzo has directed Broadway In Brockport for six years. She has worked with students to hone their craft. As a voice teacher, she emphasizes solid vocal technique. At the same time, she helps students integrate acting and dance with singing in order to create cohesive, polished performances. Broadway In Brockport gives students the opportunity to put it altogether and gain experience in front of an audience.

Oliver Middle School; Katelyn Marasco, 10th grade at Brockport High School; Diane Olsen, Adult; Amanda Pelcher, 11th grade Brockport High School; Jessica Pike, 5th grade at Hill School; Kate Pike, 9th grade at Brockport High School; Alaina Puchalski, 12th grade at Brockport High School; Chris Pulice, 10th grade at Brockport High School; Lisa Salvaggio, 12th grade at Kendall High School; Brittany Solt, 10th grade at Brockport High School; Johanna Thompson, 10th grade Home School.
