Spencerport teams qualify for scholar award

Five Spencerport spring athletic teams qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award during the spring 2002-03 season. In order to qualify, a team must have a team grade point average 90 percent or above.

The teams that qualified and their grade point average and coach were: Girls Lacrosse - 93.273 - Amy Nesbitt; Girls Track and Field - 93.083 - Melissa Diedrich; Softball - 91.182 - Deborah Milner; Boys Tennis - 91.000 - John Gentile; Boys Track and Field - 90.833 - Jamie Schneider.

The student-athletes who qualified for:

Girls Lacrosse: Katharine Kalamaroff, Katelyn Smith, Mallory Blackburn, Jennifer Alessi, Nicole Garwol, Katie Tyner, Regina Martuscello, Tricia Zambito, Katelyn Clark, Kimberly Pulhamus and Amanda Brandt.

Girls Track and Field: Nicole Dunshie, Victoria Foos, Sandra Goettelmann, Laura Uschold, Stephanie Johnson, Heather Cassidy, Karina Spencer, Jennifer Katz, Tracy Webster, Jennifer Templeton, Jamie Snook, Patricia Johnson and Gretchen Foster.

Softball: Christine Jackson, Elizabeth Ann Paoletti, Sara Daggett, Melissa D'Agostino, Caitlin O'Brien, Maureen Peer, Kelly Schweikert, Meghan Gollaher, Kyra Tobin, Shannon Elliott and Jamie Pinto.

Boys Tennis: Zachary DeRuyter, Geoffrey Lippa, Daniel Bowman, Gregory Markant, Anthony Iacchetta, Matthew St. Denis, Sean Conlon, Paul Hunter, Christopher Pels.

Boys Track and Field: Derek Pulhamus, Benjamin Blakely, Colin McCloskey, Samuel VanScoter, Matthew Ruf, Philip Weise, Ryan McCloskey, Nathanial Lowe, Matthew Legas, Michael Burgstrom, Sean Brinkman and Jonathan Hogue.

For the 2002-03 school year, 17 of 24 Spencerport varsity teams qualified for this award.
