Celebrate Ogden's history at Pulver House 40th Anniversary
A celebration of the Ogden Historical Society's 40th anniversary will take place on Sunday, June 8 at the Eastman Colby Homestead/Pulver House (the Society's museum) from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be a welcome by local community leaders and demonstrations of pioneer life such as quilting, spinning and carving. A clown will entertain the young folks and old-fashioned children's games will be played outdoors. Refreshments will be served. more

Five at SUNY Brockport receive Chancellor's Awards for Excellence
Five members of the State University of New York College at Brockport faculty have been recognized for outstanding job performance with a Chancellor's Award for Excellence. more

NYS P.E.O. Sisterhood will convene at Ithaca College
The 75th Annual New York State Convention of the P.E.O. Sisterhood will be held at Ithaca College on June 13 to 15. Linda Talbott of Spencerport, New York State Chapter president, will preside. P.E.O. is an international philanthropic educational organization, which has provided thousands of women with opportunities for higher education. more

Walkable Communities Committee kicks-off local initiative
The Walkable Communities Committee held its first meeting on May 22 at the Brockport village offices. This committee, composed of citizens from Brockport, Sweden and Clarkson, has been formed as a result of the "Walking/Biking Workshop" recently led by Mark Fenton and sponsored by the National Center for Bicycling and Walking and the Genesee Transportation Council. Fenton, Brockport native and host of the PBS series "America's Walking," spoke about the health benefits to a community that makes its setting more walkable and bikeable. more

Chili to benefit from $100,000 study
According to Chili Supervisor Steve Hendershott, the Ballantyne Road Corridor Study has been funded for $100,000 in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Update. The study will examine traffic conditions on Route 252 from the Ballantyne Bridge to Chili Avenue and then continuing on to the Union Street exit of I-490. more

Hilton High School Class of 1983 to hold 20th reunion
The Hilton High School Class of 1983 is in the midst of planning their 20th reunion. It will take place Saturday, July 26 at Golden Ponds Party House at 500 Long Pond Road. Cost is $45 per person. There will be dinner, dancing, entertainment, and reminiscing. more

CES students are on the Wright Way
A celebration at Churchville Elementary School on Friday, May 16, commemorated the naming of the driveway located in front of the school. The driveway was named "Wright Way" in honor of George Wright, a former principal who served at CES for over 30 years. more

Community helps send students to vocational competition
The community is showing their support for WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center students who will be competing in the SkillsUSA-VICA (Vocational and Industrial Clubs of America) trade and leadership competitions in Kansas City, Missouri June 23-28. more

Hilton Big-M signs Character Ed Partnership Agreement
Rick Furnal, left, owner and manager of Furnal's Big-M grocery store in Hilton, became the 32nd business or civic organization to sign Hilton Central School District's Character Education Partnership Agreement which will be displayed in the store. more

Hilton Board of Education recognizes "Friends of Education"
At its May 13 meeting, the Hilton Central School District Board of Education recognized individuals and organizations whose volunteer efforts have greatly enhanced students' educational lives. more

Hilton High School Alumni Hall of Fame selects inductees
The Hilton High School Alumni Hall of Fame will induct thirteen outstanding Hilton alumni the weekend of June 13-14, according to Hilton Superintendent of Schools John Cooper. "We are immensely proud of our alumni and the Hall of Fame is a wonderful way of recognizing their accomplishments," Dr. Cooper said. more

History comes alive at C-C Junior High
A history lesson came alive at Churchville-Chili Junior High School as seventh graders observed a portrayal of Abraham Lincoln. Actor Fritz Klein brought history to life as part of the seventh grade social studies unit, The Civil War. more

Holley school district cuts tax levy
With the passage of a preliminary legislative budget, officials in the Holley Central School District were able to trim the anticipated 17 percent tax increase to 8.77 percent. more

No increase in Kendall School District budget
Voters in the Kendall School District will be asked to approve a $12,899,191 budget on June 3. The budget figure represents no increase over last year's figures, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael O'Laughlin said. "A zero percent budget increase is incredible to me," he said. "We've offset all of the increases with reductions at various levels." more

Saving energy recognized in Brockport CSD
Brockport School District has received an award for saving money on energy. The Million Dollar Club Award is awarded from EnerScope, a company that assists the district in the preparation of bids for natural gas and alternative energy sources. more

Spencerport High School tech program receives state approval
Spencerport High School students recently gained a new and powerful tool to help them facilitate their eventual transition from formal education to the workplace. The New York State Education Department's Office of Workforce Preparation approved the district's Career and Technical Education Certification in Office Technology last month, making Spencerport High School the first non-BOCES public school in the state to offer such a program. more

Spencerport School District sets new school start times
The Spencerport school board has approved new school start times for next school year. The times will accommodate the district's new three-trip transportation plan. more

Videoconferencing puts third graders in touch
Third-graders from Craig Hill Elementary School put Congressman Tom Reynolds on the spot. During a question and answer video conference with Congressman Reynolds on May 21, students got the chance to find out what life is like for an elected official. more

Hilton-Parma seniors travel to the Thousand Islands
The Hilton-Parma Seniors will be traveling to the Thousand Islands and Alexandria Bay on Wednesday, July 16. This trip will include a sit down luncheon at the Riveredge Resort, a cruise through the islands as well as admission to Boldt Castle. more

Senior meals programs sponsor festival, walkathon
Crafts, exhibits, giveaways, music, and food will highlight the new Celebration of Seniors festival in Highland Park on Saturday, June 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event is an expansion of the sixth annual Miles for Meals Walkathon, which is the major fundraiser each year for Meals on Wheels and the congregate meal programs in Monroe County. more

Brighton beats Blue Devils in extra frame
The Brighton Barons overcame a three-run deficit in the seventh inning and scored twice in the eighth to defeat Brockport 7-5 in Section Five softball playoff action and end the Blue Devils season. more

Brockport netters win title
Brockport swept all three doubles matches and won two of the four singles matches in a 5-2 win over Hilton in boy’s tennis, which gave the Blue Devils their ninth Division II title in the last ten years. more

Churchville-Chili Sports Boosters Athletic Banquet June 2
The Churchville-Chili (C-C) Sports Boosters Club will host the annual Sports Banquet on June 2 at the Diplomat Party House. The banquet honors the school district's athletes. Winners of several scholarships will be announced at this banquet. more

Dunn wins state championship
Stephen Dunn won a New York State Championship in Freestyle Wrestling in the Heavyweight weight class on May 10. more

Spencerport's Athletic Awards Banquet June 11
The annual Spencerport Central School's year-end Athletic Awards Banquet will be held on Wednesday, June 11, in the Cosgrove Middle School. more

Top bodybuilding event scheduled for Rochester
On June 7 many of the country's finest bodybuilders will travel to Rochester to participate in the prestigious NPC Rochester Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships to be held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester. more
