Empire State college gets a new name

Empire State College's Center for Workforce Advancement has redefined its focus and its mission to better serve its clients in a changing economy and marketplace. As part of this initiative, the center will change its name, effective June 2, to Corporate Education.

As part of Empire State College, State University of New York, Corporate Education is SUNY's e-learning provider of workforce training, quality, cost-effective ways to transform workforce training, design and delivery. Corporate Education offers 400 online courses, e-Learning in a Box for transferring the classroom to the web, online coaching and mentoring, and traditional onsite classroom training, as well as the complement of Empire State College's extensive library of online learning resources.

The new name clarifies the college's relationship with the corporations and organizations that it serves, according to school representatives.

Online and blended learning (classroom combined with on line training), will be the primary emphasis for Corporate Education.

Corporate Education will specialize in providing training to small to medium-sized companies, and will continue to serve public-sector clients.
