Spencerport voters approve school budget

Spencerport School District voters approved a $52.8 million budget by a margin of 1,891 to 1,170. The proposition for replacement buses also passed by a vote of 1,660 to 1,223. voters chose James Oberlin, with 1,501 votes, and Todd Dunn, with 1,470 votes, to fill the two vacant school board seats.

Although the approved budget for next school year includes significant reductions, the district will maintain a full staff of elementary librarians, full-time elementary counselors, enrichment activities and part-time teaching assistants, according to district representatives.
Oberlin and Dunn, who will fill the two board seats vacated by Lawrence Fenity and Diana Powell-Keery, will begin their three-year term on July 1.
