Children's theatre workshop debuts in July

A Theatre Workshop is being formed in the Spencerport area for children. Children in grades three to six, who like to perform on stage, are invited to become members.

The workshop is being formed by Mrs. Wilma Slominski, who holds a bachelor's degree in theatre. She has experience as a vocal performer and in working with children in a musical venue. "There is a real need to supply an outlet for the children in the Spencerport area that have a passion for performance. I want to provide this opportunity for the kids because I am aware of the great potential they have," said Slominski.

The workshop will be held at Cosgrove Middle School on July 7-11 and July 14-18 and will meet each day from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The children will work together as they learn improvisation techniques during the first portion of the workshop. Then they will learn to apply these techniques to their performance. The actual completion of the workshop will be a Broadway review that will feature ensemble numbers, solos, and duets. Children must participate in the full session to be able to perform in the review. The public performance will be held at the Cosgrove Auditorium on July 18 at 3:30 p.m.

Space is limited. Pick up your application at Ogden Recreation. Call Slominski at 352-0128 or email wsings@frontiernet.net for information.
