Burglars arrested in Ogden

A house burglary occurred at 100 Mats Drive in the Town of Ogden, June 16. Upon returning home from school, a 13 year old discovered two suspects in her house. She immediately ran next door to a neighbor and called police. A short time later the suspect vehicle was observed on Canal Road in the Town of Ogden by Officer John Eeckhout.

Sgt. Dale Barton and Officer Steven Brown arrived on the scene and arrested two suspects. The first suspect is Beau Blackwell, 20, of West Ridge Road, Rochester. The second suspect is Steven M. Brown, 24, also of the same address.

Information leading to the arrests was obtained from neighbors in the area who wrote down the plate number of a suspicious vehicle. Their quick response and concern led to the arrests of the suspects, according to Ogden Police officials.

Both suspects have prior arrest histories, with Brown's being the most extensive with a prior conviction of burglary. Both suspects were arraigned by Judge David Murante, Ogden Justice Court, and remanded to the Monroe County Jail. Bail was set at $15,000 cash or bond for Blackwell. No bail was set for Brown due to his past felony conviction.

The subjects were charged with one count of burglary 2nd, a class C felony, criminal mischief 4th and petit larceny. In addition, Brown was charged with numerous vehicle and traffic violations, including aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd and suspended registration.
