Tiffany L. Kwiatkowski, daughter of Mark and Bette Kwiatkowski has been named to the spring 2003 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.

Kwiatkowski, a junior, is a dual psychology/ sociology major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


Five area residents have been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at SUNY Oswego. They are:

•From Hilton, Douglas J. Rivers of Post Avenue, a senior trade subjects education major.

•From North Chili, David W. Johnson of Parkway Drive, a junior chemistry major.

•From Spencerport, Abby R. Curatolo of Sheldon Drive, a senior journalism major; Timothy F. Fowler of Village Walk Circle, a senior biology major; and John C. Perry of Walnut Hill Drive, a senior broadcasting and mass communication major.

The president's and dean's lists represent the academic top 20 percent of the Oswego student body. Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.0 scale are named to the president's list, the top 5.8 percent of Oswego students. To be included on the dean's list, students must have a semester grade average of 3.30 and 3.79.


Kelly Tianello of Spencerport received an award at the campus awards ceremony at Purchase College State University of New York on April 23. She was recognized with the dean's award for design technology presented by the Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film. Tianello graduated on May 16 from the college with a bachelor of fine arts degree in design technology.


Kerri Slominski, daughter of Joe and Wilma Slominski of Spencerport, was awarded The Clase Voice Award in Honor of Renee Flemming. The scholarship was given to Slominski at a ceremony held in Kilbourn Hall for the CED students at the Eastman School of Music. Kerri is currently a sophomore at E.J. Wilson High School in Spencerport. She is the voice student of Cecile Saine at Eastman.


Brett Pagani, of Spencerport, was awarded a bachelor of science degree in computer information systems with a minor in law and history at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts, on May 17.

Pagani graduated cum laude at Bentley and plans to attend graduate school, seeking an MBA and law degree.

The son of Ed and Claudia Pagani of Deerborne Lane, he is a graduate of Spencerport High School.


Alice Ball of Spencerport recently graduated cum laude from Houghton College. She was an English major.


The following Hilton residents were recognized for academic excellence at the Bishop Kearney High School Underclassmen Awards Ceremony held recently.

Kimberly Bunker received the BK Academic Excellence Award. She is the daughter of Keith and Karen Bunker of West Beach Drive.

Stephanie Koszelak received the BK Academic Excellence Award and the UR and Kodak Young Leaders Award. She is the daughter of Timothy and Laurie Koszelak of Haskins Lane.

Anthony Randich received the BK Academic Excellence Award. He is the son of Keith and Kim Randich of Woodsmoke Lane.

Kathleen Sereika received the BK Academic Excellence Award and the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award. She is the daughter of Mary Mendola of Walker Lake Ontario Road.


The following Spencerport resident was recognized for academic excellence at the Bishop Kearney High School Underclassman Awards Ceremony held recently.

David Duford received the BK Academic Excellence Award, the Canisius College Book Award for leadership, scholarship and service, and the U of R and Kodak Young Leaders Award. He is the son of David and Frances Duford of Coleman Avenue.


Jennifer L. Buttery, the daughter of Janet and Jess Buttery of Saint Katherine Way, Brockport, has been named to the dean's list at Hamilton College for the 2003 spring semester.

A rising sophomore at Hamilton, Buttery is a graduate of Brockport High School.


The following Hilton resident was recognized for academic excellence at the Bishop Kearney High School Baccalaureate Mass and Senior Awards Ceremony held recently.

Danielle O'Mara received the Hands of Christ Award from the Diocese of Rochester. She is the daughter of Francis and Jamie O'Mara of North Haskins Lane in Hilton.


Jeffrey Engelbrecht of Rochester, who is enrolled in the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester. He is a senior majoring in information management and technology.


Adam McWilliams, Brewerton Drive, Rochester, a senior majoring in architecture, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.2 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in 15 credit hours taken on campus (or at the Florence, Italy, campus) or achieve a 3.5 grade point average in 12 to 14 credit hours taken on campus or in Florence during the semester.


Daniel Hoock, Rochester, a junior majoring in physical education and enrolled in the School of Education at Syracuse University, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.


Jameson Blandford of Spencerport, a sophomore majoring in systems and information science and enrolled in the L. C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.


Jeffrey C. Povelaites, of Rochester, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Alfred University. He is a junior in the NYS College of Ceramics. Students must earn at least a 3.3 grade point average to qualify for dean's list.

A graduate of Aquinas Institute Rochester, Povelaites is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Povelaites of Rochester.


Joshua Poole, Church Road, Hilton has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Baldwin-Wallace College.


Local residents have been named to the dean's list at Canisius College for the spring semester:

Katie Boetcher, of Harwood Road, Spencerport, was awarded Academic Merit and is a junior communication studies major.

Daniel Surdyk, of Spencerport, was awarded dean's list and is a senior bioinformatics major.


Marie L. Fiero, of Hilton, received a bachelor of science degree cum laude from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva. She was chosen to give the William Smith Senior Speech at Commencement. Fiero majored in biology and is the daughter of Nadine and Jack Fiero.


Denison University senior Nathaniel Emmerson, son of Bruce and Debbie Emmerson of Crestview Drive, Brockport, has been selected as a Young Scholar.

The Young Scholar program is designed to permit outstanding students in all disciplines the opportunity to conduct summer research on a one-to-one basis with a member of the faculty or independently with faculty supervision. Students in all disciplines are eligible; they must have a minimum 3.3. grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and the research must culminate in a written or artistic project as well as a public presentation.

Emmerson, a 2001 graduate of Brockport High School, is a Latin major at Denison. His project is titled: "Comedy in Ancient Rome."


Emily Judith Georger, daughter of James Georger of Hamlin, has been named to the dean's list at SUNY Potsdam. She is a community health major.

To achieve the honor of being on the dean's list, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically graded semester hours that semester with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49.


The following area students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the spring 2003 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

•From Rochester: Serdar Goz, a junior majoring in economics; Nicholas Harisis, a freshman majoring in arts and sciences; Timothy Middleton, a sophomore majoring in political science; Briani Ramsahai, a senior majoring in biology; Chanel Shaw, a junior majoring in biology.

•From Hilton: Rebecca Mesh, a senior majoring in mathematics; Amanda Poole, a junior majoring in international relations; Kristina Visic, a senior majoring in psychology.

•From Spencerport: Shawn Anderson, a senior majoring in political science.


The following students enrolled in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the spring semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

Jessica Foley, Churchville, a freshman majoring in art education; Elisabeth Curran, Hilton, a sophomore majoring in environmental design (interiors); Richard Ugino, Hilton, a senior majoring in musical theater; Kara Wiseman, Hilton, a junior majoring in speech communications; Jenna Barber, Holley, a freshman majoring in musical theater; Michael Dennis, Spencerport, a senior majoring in film; Michelle Ley, Rochester, a senior majoring in speech communication; and Christopher Page, Rochester, a sophomore majoring in industrial design.


Dan Farrelly, of Spencerport, was recognized for his outstanding performance in managing the bridge program NYS Department of Transportation while working in the Buffalo region. He was part of a team to develop preventative maintenance programs to repair deficient bridge elements. Such programs have reduced the deterioration rate of the region's bridges, thus reducing the need for capital program work on state-owned structures.

He received the Commissioner's Award of Excellence, one of 71 DOT employees statewide so honored.


The following students graduated from Grove City College in May:

Katherine Anderson received a bachelor of music degree. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis G. Anderson of Churchville.

Elizabeth Steele received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Steele of Spencerport.

Brian Wallace received a bachelor of science degree in apld physics/computer. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Wallace of Spencerport.


Jenna Bower of West Albion Street, Holley, has been named to the dean's list for the spring quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A first-year student in RIT's School of Print Media, Bower is studying graphic media and earned a 4.0 GPA during this quarter. She is the daughter of Mark and Karen Bower and is a 2002 graduate of Holley High School.

Candice Rockell, daughter of Jim and Lee Rockell of Dean Road, Spencerport, has been named to the spring 2003 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Rockell, a freshman, is a math/technology major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


The following students were named to the Niagara University academic dean's list for the spring 2003 semester. To qualify, students must attain a 3.25 academic grade-point average for the semester.

Named to the president's list are: Amanda E. Davis, Rochester, a childhood education major, is the daughter of Daniel Davis of Rush and Nancy McCabe of Rochester.

Andrea Lynn Ferris, Rochester, a childhood education major, is the daughter of Ramon and Maureen Ferris of Rochester.

Michelle Anne Keenan, Spencerport, is a musical studies and mathematics major.

To achieve the honor of being on the president's list, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically graded semester hours that semester with a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

Named to the dean's list are: Richard W. Marvin, Spencerport, a physics major, is the son of Richard Marvin of Spencerport.

Christopher Frank Phelps, Rochester, a childhood education major, is the son of David Phelps and Mary Phelps of Rochester.

To achieve the honor of being on the dean's list, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically graded semester hours that semester with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49.


Caitlin McCloskey, a senior public relations major, was named to the dean's list for the 2003 spring semester at Susquehanna University. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve a minimum 3.4 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 for the semester, while completing a minimum of 12 semester hours.

She is the daughter of Charles and Cynthia McCloskey.


Katherine A. Fantauzzo, Rochester, the daughter of Frank and Ferne Fantauzzo, received a bachelor of science degree in biology and graduated cum laude with honors from Bucknell University.


The following students received degrees at the May commencement at Roberts Wesleyan College.

•Steven Christenson, of North Chili, received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education.

Katrina Oyer, of Holley, received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education.

•Kari Simmons, of North Chili, received a bachelor of science degree in English education.

Shannon Stiehler, of Spencerport, received a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

The following area students were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Roberts Wesleyan College: Receiving highest honors are Kathryn Becker of Churchville, Kelly Radel of Spencerport, and Emily Shewan of Churchville. Highest honors requires a grade point average of 3.85 to 4.0.

Receiving high honors are Megan Hoose of Rochester and Kimberly Reed of Rochester. High honors requires a grade point average of 3.60 to 3.84.
