Black Belt tests at Gillam Grant Karate

Black belt promotion tests were held at the Gillam Grant Center in Byron-Bergen on June 7. Sensei Gary Parrett and Sensei Glenn Van Lare were promoted to San-Dan (third degree black belt).

Seven students were promoted to Sho-Dan (1st degree black belt). They are Kevin Bruton Jr., Candice Sanders, Nathan Pawlukiewicz, Stephen Fintel, Nicholas Adams, Russell Adams, and Jordan White. Sanders, Pawlukiewicz and Fintel were given the title of Sensei (teacher). Bruton, age 15, was made Sempai (senior student). White, age 11, and the two Adams boys, age 11 and 12, were given Junior Leader titles.

In addition, Ken Jackson was promoted to brown belt. Vince Lanzalaco, Mike Dooley, Juliann Nelson and Diana Dressler were promoted to Sempai-Brown belt. Dan Beszczynski, Colleen Smigelski, Keith Hadley, Michael Sananikone, and Nicholas Gartley were promoted to blue belt.
