Exhibit at town hall honors Parma's military

The first exhibit in the new display window at Parma Town Hall honors men and women from Parma who, in past years, have devoted a portion of their lives to military services. Framed by a 16-panel depiction of pioneer life created by the young Russian artist Olga Phillapova, 17, a poetic tribute to an anonymous veteran occupies the central position of two exhibit panels. Names of service personnel in various wars of America's past are also featured.

Rochester City Historian, Parma Town Historian Shirley Cox Husted and Kimberly Henry created the display, the first of many to occupy the newly-created display area near the front entrance.

Funds from the New York Council for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities funded Phillapova's art work. Her mother is a school principal in Novgorod, one of Rochester's Sister Cities. The listing of Parma's veterans came from research by Shirley Cox Husted.
