Class of '53 educators reuniting in Brockport

The fiftieth reunion of the class that graduated from the State University of New York at Brockport on June 8, 1953 will be held this summer. The bachelor of science degree in education graduates will return to SUNY Brockport the weekend of July 10-12.

NY State Senators George D. Maziarz (R,C-No. Tonawanda) and Thomas P. Morahan have sponsored a NY Senate Resolution to honor these men and women for their long-term commitment to the needs of education. Many female graduates began elementary education careers that would span forty years. Male graduates often entered branches of the military serving in the U.S., Far East and Europe. Upon completion of a two or three year obligation, they returned to graduate studies or began teaching and coaching careers.

Morahan offered, "congratulations to the class of 1953 on this major milestone in your lives. Your generation has advanced our civilization and strengthened our nation. Best wishes to all." State Senator George D. Maziarz, who will make the presentation at the reunion, said from his office, "As the representative of SUNY Brockport in the State Senate, I am proud to help commemorate the class of 1953's fiftieth reunion. When I think of how many lives have been touched by these individuals, both inside and outside the classroom, I am filled with awe and appreciation of their accomplishments."
