Erin L. Bachmann of Rochester was named to the dean's list for the 2003 spring semester at Juniata College. The dean's list recognizes grade point averages of at least 3.6 out of a possible 4.0.

Bachmann, the daughter of Reinhold and Genevieve Bachmann, is a senior studying psychology. She is a 2000 graduate of The Odyssey School.


Johnson & Wales University announces that William Weiner of Albano Drive, Hilton, a computerized drafting major, has been named to the dean's list for the spring term ending in May. To receive dean's list commendation, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or above.


The following student enrolled in the School of Management at Syracuse University was named to the dean's list for the spring 2003 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

•Chad Hage, Hollybrook Road, Brockport, a sophomore majoring in general studies in management.


The following students enrolled in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the spring 2003 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester.

•Jessica Martin, Redman Road, Brockport, a senior majoring in television-radio-film.
•Matthew McGrath, Clarkson-Parma Townline Road, Hilton, a sophomore majoring in pubic relations.
•Courtney Weins, Dunbar Road, Hilton, a senior majoring in public relations.


The following Hilton residents were recently elected by their peers to serve in the following capacities on Bishop Kearney High School Student Council for the 2003-2004 school year. Elections were held the last day of school.

•Anthony Randich was elected Junior Class Secretary. He is the son of Keith and Kim Randich of Woodsmoke Lane.
•Katie Sereika was elected Student Council Director of Public Relations. She is the daughter of Mary Mendola of Walker Lake Ontario Road.
•Stephanie Koszelak was elected Student Council Vice President. She is the daughter of Timothy and Laurie Koszelak of Haskins Lane.


The following students were named to the dean's list of St. Bonaventure University for the spring 2003 semester. A student must achieve a grade point average of at least 3.25 in order to qualify.

•Katie C. Hall, a senior majoring in journalism/mass communication, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hall of Rochester.
•Sara E. Maurer, a freshman majoring in journalism/mass communication, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Maurer of North Chili.
•Katherine E. Petit, a junior majoring in sociology, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Petit of Spencerport.
•Bridget A. Quinn, a junior majoring in education, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Quinn of Brockport.
•Christina M. Santandrea, a freshman majoring in journalism/mass communication, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Santandrea of Hilton.
•Kelly E. Smith, a junior majoring in elementary education/special education, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Smith of Spencerport.
•Holly M. Volkmuth, a junior majoring in elementary education/special education, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Volkmuth of Spencerport.


Robert Stevens, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary R. Stevens of Brockport was named to the dean's list with distinction at Grove City College. Stevens, an elementary education major, is a 2000 graduate of Brockport High School.

To qualify for the dean's list with distinction, a student must have an average of 3.6 to 3.84.


Philip Conjerti of Spencerport and a senior at SUNY Fredonia has been named to the Commissioner's List by the State University of New York Athletic Conference. Conjerti, a music education major, is a Blue Devils swim team member.

This honor is bestowed on a varsity athlete who completed the season and maintained a grade-point average of 3.3 for three semesters.


Michael J. Conroy has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at State University of New York at Cortland. Conroy, an athletic training major, is the son of Jim and Kitty Conroy.

He is a 1999 graduate of Brockport Central School.


Amy Knight, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Knight of Spencerport, was named to the dean's list with high distinction at Grove City College. Knight, an elementary education major, is a 2000 graduate of Spencerport High School.

To qualify for the dean's list with high distinction, a student must have an average of 3.85 to 4.0.


SUNY Morrisville recently announced the following students who were named to the dean's list for the spring semester: Sarah L. McCauley, Churchville, a equine science major, Gregory G. Schwind, Hilton, an engineering science major and Lester A. Wise, Hamlin, a diesel technology major.

To be named to the dean's list, a student must achieve an average of 3.0 to 3.99 for the semester and complete 12 credit hours.


Michelle A. Keenan of Spencerport, a senior majoring in music education, was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the international Greek education honor society at SUNY Potsdam.

She is the daughter of Stephen and Terri Keenan.

The society recognizes students who have shown high academic achievement. To be eligible for membership, sophomores, juniors and seniors must possess an overall cumulative average of 3.25 over a four-semester period, including a 3.5 cumulative average in all educational courses completed.


Matthew Montanaro of Quail Lane, Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for the third quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A fourth-year student in RIT's College of Science, Montanaro is studying physics.

He is the son of Nick and Romea Montanaro and is a 2001 graduate of Aquinas Institute.


Lauren Christian of Holley has been selected to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) from July 27 to August 7 in Washington, D.C. and New York City. GYLC is a leadership development program for secondary school students from around the world who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Christian will be among 350 outstanding scholars from around the world to attend the conference.


Heather Smith, of Churchville, was selected for inclusion in the 2002-2003 National Dean's List publication and awards program. Smith is currently a business administration major at Monroe Community College, where she has also completed additional studies in hospitality management.


David Dingeldine represented Western/Central New York State at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair held during the week of May 11 to 17, in Cleveland, Ohio. David was chosen after taking high honors at the regional level held at St. John Fisher College in March. He received distinguished honors from the Department of the Navy; a cash award from the Western/Central Science Congress and sponsorship from Eastman Kodak and St. John Fisher College to attend this event.

David is a senior at Churchville-Chili Senior High School and will be attending the University of Buffalo in the fall, studying electrical engineering.


Sean O'Connor of Greece Arcadia High School, Dan Horowitz of Hilton High School and Lisa Gillman of WE-MO-CO, BOCES 2, earned the George H. Scheible Memorial Printing Awards presented annually by the Flower City Printing Company of Rochester. Each recipient was judged on their knowledge of printing, their creativity in using it as a form of communication, their skills in producing printed matter, character and citizenship.


Rebecca Houghton graduated summa cum laude from Elmira College on June 1 with a bachelor of arts degree. Houghton, the daughter of Randall and Lory Houghton, is a mathematics and education major. She will be attending Binghamton University on a full scholarship as a graduate assistant to work for a master's degree in special education.

Houghton is a 1999 graduate of Hilton High School.


Cathy Desiderio, sales agent for Prudential K.A.R.E.S. Realty, has been designated as a Fine Homes Specialist by The Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, Inc., a Prudential Financial (NYSE:PRU) company.

She was awarded the designation after exemplifying professionalism and commitment to representing buyers and sellers in the Fine Homes marketplace.

Desiderio has over 18 years experience in the Real Estate business and has been a consistent multi-million dollar producer and has many designations including e-mail certification. She recently received Prudential's Leading Edge Award, and has also been a recipient of the Women's Council Pinnacle Award.


Navy Lt. Paul R. Burkhart, son of Linda J. Wood of North Chili, and Robert H. Burkhart of Nelliston, New York recently departed to the Caribbean and South America while assigned to the destroyer USS Stump, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia.

Burkhart is a 1985 graduated of Churchville-Chili High School and joined the Navy in July 1985. He is a 1998 graduate of Norfolk State University, Virginia with a bachelor of science degree.
