Ogden town officials work to fill vacancies

Ogden Town Council members are expected to approve the appointment of Malcolm Perry of Whittier Road to fill the seat held by the late Tom Vandertang, a Republican, at a July 23 board meeting. Vandertang's term was to expire in 2003 and the four year position will be on the November ballot. The Ogden Republican Committee circulated a petition after Vandertang's death to place Perry's name on the ballot.

Malcolm Perry has served on the Ogden Planning Board since 1999 and had previously expressed an interest in town board service, according to Ogden Supervisor Gay Lenhard.

Ogden officials are also working to fill the position of Ogden Director of Parks and Recreation following the death of Glenn Boetcher. The town has placed advertisements for the job, a Civil Service administrative position which requires specific education and training.

Lenhard said in the interim she is filling in on any major decisions involving the operation of the department and that other staff are carrying on with the summer camps and programs.
