Ballet Theatre hosts Performing Arts Festival

Create your own masterpiece, compose a concerto or choreograph your very own ballet in costume. Watch the ballet "Coppelia" come to life, learn some tap steps, have books read and sung to you. You can do all this on Saturday, August 9 at Ballet Theatre's Performing Arts Festival. A day full of activities and entertainment designed to increase awareness of the performing arts and classical ballet.

Featured entertainers are soloist ballerina Jenny Lustig, "Chuck's Tuneful Tales," local authors Vivian VandeVelde and Marsha Hayles. Dance clothes, shoes and supplies as well as light refreshments will be available for purchase.

The festival is also supporting two local, not for profit organizations. A representative from Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester will be available all day with information and selling "Comfort Heart" necklaces. The Catholic Family Center's "Women's Place" assists homeless mothers and children. A section of Ballet Theatre will be devoted to collecting items for their "Wish List."

Free and open to the public, participants can stop in for a short visit or spend the day. Bringing an item from the "Wish List" below, or contributing to BCCR is appreciated - but not required. Ballet Theatre is located off Latta Road, on Island Cottage Road, past the Arcadia schools. Turn left onto Arcampus Drive - or look for the signs. For more information, or a detailed "Wish List," please call Ballet Theatre, 581-1190.
