Summer Recreation for children 6-12 - July 28 - August 1, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. $65 per week for residents, $75 for non-residents. Weekly rate includes trip to the Planetarium - $15 daily rate residents, $18 non-residents, Daily rate must pay $7 for trip. Games, activities, crafts. Bring lunch. Call Hamlin Recreation, 964-7222.

Lock 32 Whitewater Park Summer Camps - Ages 10 and older, Prerequisite - ability to swim and closed toe water shoes, Location - Lock 32 Whitewater Park in Pittsford, Cost - $175 per person/session. Summer camps are offered on a weekly basis, Monday through Thursday, from June 30 to August 18. Camps run three hours per day, either 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. During this four day program, participants learn the basic elements of whitewater kayaking and water safety. Students learn wet-exits, forward and reverse sweep strokes, peel outs, eddy turns, ferries, river reading skills and Eskimo rolls.

Learn to Row - Session II: August 18, 21, 25, 28, September 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday, ages 14 and older youth and adult, at Genesee Waterways Center Boathouse, Elmwood Avenue, $195 per session. Learn to row on the Genesee River and the Erie Canal. Participants will row in an 8-person shell (60' long) and will learn all the basics of rowing: boat handling, how to perform the rowing stroke, and safety procedures. This is truly the "ultimate team sport." Includes all necessary equipment. No transportation.

Introduction to Kayaking - Offered every Saturday, June to October, 9 a.m. to noon (flatwater only), 1 to 4 p.m. (whitewater) youth and adult 10 years and older, GWC boathouse (Elmwood Avenue) and Lock 32 on the Erie Canal, Pittsford. $60 (3 hours of instruction (9-12), $119 (6 hours w/lunch hour (9 to 4). Program begins on the flat water of the Erie Canal and ends at the GWC White Water Park. Cost includes all equipment and a free Day Pass.

Learn to Scull - Session II: August 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28, September 4, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 14 and older youth and adult. Location - Genesee Waterways Center Boathouse, Elmwood Avenue. Cost $225 per session. Learn to Scull on the Genesee River and the Erie Canal. Participants will row with a coach in a double or four-person shell to start and then advance to a single. No transportation.
