ALBION

•Suhr, Wanda A., age 91, formerly of Allen Road, died July 29, 2003 at the Orleans County Nursing Home. A lifetime resident of this area, she worked as a Prison Matron for the former Albion State Training School until her retirement in 1973. She enjoyed music, gardening, reading and playing musical instruments.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul Suhr in 1952. She is survived by three sons, John Suhr of Kuckville, David (Sally) Suhr of Rochester, Gerald (Judy) Suhr of Albion; three daughters, Marcia (Alfred) Smith of Albion, Mary Rheinwald of Albion, Nancy (Marc) Clark of Brockport; 22 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Two brothers, Donald and Matt McGlen, predeceased her.

Services were private. Interment, Otter Creek Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Medina Memorial Hospital or Lakeside Memorial Hospital in her memory.


BERGEN

Johnson, Leilani F., July 25, 2003 at age 64. Wife of 46 years to Richard N. Johnson; mother of Rick (Bonnie) Johnson, Julie (Brad Richardson) Johnson, Mike (Pam) Johnson and Brenda (Tom) Schmitt; sister of Bruce (Beverly) Torquato and Arlene Carpenter; also survived by five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held July 28 at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, Bergen. Contributions can be sent to Byron Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 210, Byron, NY 14422 in her memory.


BROCKPORT

•Burns, Bonnie Sue (Eggleston), on July 24, 2003 at the age of 45. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael, of 26 years; daughter, Deonne Burns; son, Dennis Burns; grandchildren, Tristen, Jon-Paul, Joseph, Dakota Schafer-Burns, Ryanne and Kristen; her mother, Joann Eggleston; several brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held August 3 at the family home, on Clark Street, Brockport.


•Stemmer, Corda I., Died suddenly at the age of 75. She is predeceased by her husband Edward. Survived by her daughters, Lynn (Steve) Ritter, Marty (Dan) Marquart, Judy (Weldon) Regi and 10 grandchildren. Services were private.


CHURCHVILLE

•Crooks, Wayne K., Formerly of Churchville, age 51, suddenly on July 12, 2003. Born in Rochester. Wayne moved to Phoenix in 1982. He graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree in social work from Arizona State University. Wayne's greatest satisfaction in life was helping other people. He was preceded in death by his father, John Crooks; and will be greatly missed by his mother, Rilla; his dearest friend, Kim Janney; brother Jack (Joyce) Crooks of Spencerport; sister Norma (Albert) Pescherine of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Dorothy Shaffer of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and nephews and nieces.

CLARKSON

Zastrow, Gerald E., On Tuesday, July 22, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Frances; his children, Gary (Renee) Barbara (Thomas) Schrage, Ann (Bill) Guilford, Stephen (Colleen), Mary Ellen (Henry) Persia and Theresa (Mike) Krause; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Leon T. (Esther); his aunt, Eliz Jennejohn; several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was held July 28 at the Church of the Nativity, Brockport. Interment, Lake View Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Sweden Clarkson Joint Recreation or have masses said for the repose of his soul.


HAMLIN

Diedrich, Lela Dianne, Peacefully, July 26, 2003, age 57, formerly of Macon, Mississippi. She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Diedrich; her children, Jennifer and Dr. Jason Diedrich; her sister, Debra (Brad) Martin; two brothers, Charles (Dale) and Carl (Tessie) Higginbotham; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda (Ernest) Sanders, Mary (Dave) Schutte, Carol (Larry) Strauss, Joan Diedrich (Lennie Palmisano), Luther, Richard (Pat) and David (Kathy) Diedrich; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Ruth Higginbotham; her in-laws, Luther and Isabel; her sister-in-law, Betty Lou Diedrich.

Rath, Nancy H. on Friday, July 25, 2003. Beloved wife of Charles, and loving mother of Lynne (Bernard) Maier, Charles (Melisa) and Steven; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Wolf, Margaret M. (Rath), July 29, 2003, age 91. Predeceased by her husband, Roy and son, Richard. Survived by her children, Gary (Jacaline) Wolf, Betty (Charles) Leverenz, Mary (Charles) DePew; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Richard (Joani) Wolf; sister, Ruth Diedrich; 9 grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held August 1 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Private interment, Lakeside Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. John Lutheran Church in her memory.


HOLLEY

Stothard, Rhea (Robertson) age 90, died July 24, 2003. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Holley, life member of Order of the Eastern Star and retired from Stromberg Carlson in Rochester.

She was predeceased by her husband Elliott Willard Stothard, six sisters and four brothers. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Hortense Cliff of Hamlin, Ila Burchfield of North Carolina, Nancy Dauchy of Texas; special friends, Katherine Smith of Holley and Matthew Smith of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

KENDALL

Verhagen, Harry C., age 75, of Lomond Shore, died July 30, 2003 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was employed at Owens Illinois in Brockport, as a foreman before retiring in 1987. He was predeceased by his wife, Maryanne (Hayes) in 1983. He is survived by two sons, Bruce Verhagen, James (Billie Jo) Verhagen of Pennsylvania; five daughters, Mary Verhagen of Kent, Sherry (Bobby) Allen of Texas, Diane (Henry) Ettinger of Holley, Elaine (John) Gay of Waterport, Ann (James) Denning of Holley; 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Richard (Barb) Verhagen of Webster; sister-in-law Mary Verhagen of Rochester; many nieces, nephews and dearest friend "Uncle Charlie." Two brothers predecease him.

A Funeral Service was held August 2 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Holley. Private interment. Memorials can be made to the Kendall Fire Department or Hospice of Orleans County.


SPENCERPORT

Colby, James A., Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at age 76. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Reta (Bauch) Colby; his children Jean A., Charles (Colette), Richard G. (Darlene) and Robert (Sharon) Colby; his grandchildren Margarita, Chad and Camille, Scott and Marc, Sarah, Jim and Alex; his sister Virginia (Joseph) Skrabak; several nieces and nephews. He was a life-long farmer in the Town of Ogden at Colby Homestead Farm.

A Memorial Service was held August 2 at the First Congregational UCC (The White Church), Spencerport. Contributions can be made to the First Congregational UCC, 65 Church Street, Spencerport or LEAD New York, c/o Cornell University and also consider donating a pint of blood in his memory.


•Kadrie, Shirley (Bovee), July 10, 2003, age 72, formerly of Spencerport. Survived by her husband, Marvin (Bill); children, Darlene Jacobs, and Kevin; two grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew; sisters Virginia Harris, Alta (Jack) Brew. Predeceased by brothers, Kenneth and William, and sisters, Leona and Betty.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 16 at 4 p.m. at the Gates Assembly of God Church, 4195 Lyell Road, Rochester, NY.


•Priestley, Alburton E., July 24, 2003 age 93. He is survived by his wife Helen; his children, Eleanor Morgenberger, Alburton "Skip" (Helen) Priestley, Dolores Yeaton, Maynard (Pat), Wayne (Hildegard), Edward and Terry Priestley; his step children, Sharon (Bob) Hefner, Kay (Bob) Conrad, Bill (Libby) and Mike (Char) Schwartz; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his niece, Thelma Johnson and many friends.

Funeral Services were held July 28 at The Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Interment, Garland Cemetery. Contributions can be made to GRHCA Hospice in his memory.
