Local pastor named NY Chair of
International Church Council Project

Tony Bartolucci, pastor-teacher at Clarkson Community Church, has been selected as chairman for the New York delegation of the International Church Council Project (ICCP). From August 6 to 9, he and approximately 40 other Christian theologians and church leaders from North America attended the Western Hemisphere Consultation on Theology in Ft. Lauderdale. At that time, ICCP launched an ambitious plan to arouse the evangelical church to take a firm stand on the Biblical doctrines which the Christian church has affirmed for over 2000 years.

For the next few years, the focus of ICCP is to conduct consultations with evangelical leaders in 70 targeted countries on five continents. ICCP plans to create effective ways, including an interactive website, to engage American evangelicals in the pulpit and the pew. The consultations will address statements of Biblical theology that address 20 topics facing the 21st century church. These topics are a mixture of restatements on essential classical Christian doctrines in response to heresies confronted by the early Church and of statements on issues that are relevant in today's social climate.

In an historic moment, Pastor Bartolucci and the other participants signed a "Declaration of Biblical Truth" which proclaims the intent to stand firm in their Biblical beliefs concerning the 20 topics. The result of this undertaking is expected to have a significant impact on the Christian community.
