Parma candidate visits seniors

On August 14, Tina Brown visited with local seniors at the Hilton Senior Center to discuss the political issues that they feel are the most prevalent in this year's local election. Brown is the Democratic candidate for the Parma Town Supervisor position in Parma. She became interested in the position during her involvement with NO RIP (No Rezoning In Parma). Many seniors were not only aware of this organization but made many comments supporting the group's focus. They also mentioned the importance of "adhering to Parma's Master Plan," according to the candidate. Other issues that were discussed included: 1) the need for improved communication between the community and town officials, 2) the need for a more enhanced recreation program that would provide a community swimming pool (one not located in a school) and an extended summer camp program. The seniors did state that all of the other recreation aspects of Hilton/Parma were "top notch." 3) Lastly, many residents feel that more commercial/industry businesses should be encouraged in the village to prevent "urban sprawl" in this community. Brown stated that she chose the senior center because her background is in working with seniors on many different levels.
