•Christ, Joan P., August 27, 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Kavita and Luren Christ; siblings, George (Ann) Christ, Mary (Donald) Christ-Talty and Marcia (William) Heffron; also by several nieces and nephews. Joan was a teacher in the Gates-Chili School System for 38 years.

A Memorial Mass was said August 29 at St. John the Evangelist Church of Spencerport. Interment, St. John's Cemetery.


•Hoppe, Donald A., Suddenly on August 29, 2003 at age 76. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, David (Carol) Hoppe; daughters, Cynthia (Serguey) Kon-dratieff of California, Debbie (Bill) Burleigh of Illinois and Carol (Randy) Bloechl; sister, Myrna (Dan) Wise of Alabama; uncle, Harold (Betty) Hoppe of Illinois; 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; also nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald was a WWII Army veteran, retired Dean at RIT, a member of Etolian Lodge No. 479 F. & A.M. and a member of North Chili United Methodist Church.

A Memorial Service was held September 4 at North Chili United Methodist Church. Private interment, North Chili Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the RIT Scholarship Fund (1 Lomb Memorial Drive, 14623) or the American Red Cross (50 Prince Street, 14607) in his memory.


•Mawn, Richard L. "Dick", Monday, September 1, 2003 at age 79, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by brothers Stephen and David Mawn. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Joan (McCormack); his children Thomas (Rae Lynn) Mawn, Colleen Mawn, Bridgett (Paul) Gee, Sharon (Mark) McCarthy, Daniel (Rose) Mawn, Michael and Richard Mawn; nine grandchildren; five brothers Thomas, Gerald, Robert, John and Gene Mawn; his sister Mary Vandewater. He was a member of the Army Air Corps in WWII.

A Funeral Mass was said September 4 at St. John's Church, Spencerport. Private interment. Contributions can be made to HRC Agency, 508 White Spruce Blvd., Rochester, NY 14623, Attention: "Patient Care Fund" in his memory.


•Campbell, Estelle Grace, Saturday, August 30, 2003 at age 87. Survived by daughter Della (Lewis) Nichols Dusett; son, Terry Nichols; grandchildren, Erynn, Sherri, Chris, Terry Jr., Luke; great-grandchildren, Alexandra; brother Frank Harens; sister, Julia Myers; and several nieces and nephews.

•Cardillo, Lorraine N., on August 27, 2003. Predeceased by her parents. Survived by her sister, Ruth; and brothers, Richard (Shirley), and Arnold (Mary); three nieces, Susan (Raymond) Nolen, Sandra (Jeffrey) Shifirn, Cathy (Steven) Fitzner; nephew, Richard (Deanne) Cardillo; three great-nieces, five great nephews; and cousin, Dorothy Harter. Lorraine was a member of the Zonta Club of Rochester.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 12, 10 a.m. at the Fowler Funeral Home Inc., 340 West Avenue, Brockport. Interment, private. •Giglio, Santo Joseph, August 29, 2003, at age 66. Survived by his wife, Mary Ann; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Mr. Giglio was an Associate Professor of Dance at The State University of New York College at Brockport. He was a well known teacher, director and choreographer in the Rochester community.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at the convenience of the family.


•McCaffery, Margaret L., On September 2, 2003 at the age of 74. Predeceased by her loving husband, Lee. Survived by her son, Michael (Maureen); daughter, Lauren (Gerald) Fronk; grandchildren, Stacy Ginder, Nicholas, Mike Jr. McCaffery; brother, Robert (Terry) Badge; brother-in-law, Harold "Doc" (Jacqueline) McCaffery.

•Mouganis, Helen T., on Sunday, August 24, 2003 in Athens, Greece. She is predeceased by her husband Emanuel and is survived by her sons, Christopher and Nicholas (Lynn); three grandchildren, Emanuel, Stephanie and Alexander.

•Nellis, Margaret E. (Sands), on August 26, 2003 at the age of 92. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard in 1961; daughter, Kathleen Lane in 1988; granddaughter, Kristina Swing in 1983; and her three sisters, Helen Fleck, Norma Everette and Eleanor Slowe all in 2003. She is survived by her son, Carl R. Nellis; daughters, Priscilla (James) Swing, Martha (Richard) Merrill and Barbara Vang; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.

•Wright, Vera L. (Walker), July 15, 2003. She is survived by her children Christine (Jim) Youker, Cheryl (Greg) Wright Eichas, and Norman (Jill) Wright; her grand-children Carissa Youker, Claudia and Alex Eichas, and Rebecca and Laura Wright; sisters Grace Lockwood, Elizabeth (Frank) Tulley, and Patricia (Duane) Wright Miner; brothers David Walker and Curtis (Mona) Walker; sev-eral nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 14 State Street, Brockport on Saturday, September 13 at 3 p.m.


MORTON

•Strasenburgh, Anne G. (Gruschow), August 29, 2003 at age 95. She was predeceased by her husband George C. Strasenburgh. She is survived by sons, Sid (Judi) Strasenburgh and David (Sandy) Strasenburgh; her grandchildren Sheila (Michael) Laabs, Michael (Tina) Strasenburgh and Todd Strasenburgh, her brother George Gruschow of Ogden, Utah; several nieces and nephews. She was an Army Nurse during WWII with the 19th General Hospital in Europe and was a retired School Nurse in the Kendall School District.

•Beaman, Charles A., August 24, 2003 at age 72. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen E. (Bresslin) Beaman; his children Bryan (Barbara) Beaman, Joy (Pat) Catino and Cheryl Kells; his grandchildren Eric and Emmalie Beaman, Kassandra, Danielle and Kevin Catino; his brothers Donald (Sarah), Kenneth (Joyce) and Larry (Nancy) Beaman; sisters Diana Hamill and Linda (Brian) Dougherty; many nieces and nephews. He was an employee of Lustercoate and was a member of the Monday Night Car Night.

•Keir, Kenneth G., Peacefully, September 1, 2003, 81. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Connie (Bishop) Keir; his children, Marsha (Gregg) Martin, Scott (Monica) Keir; five grandchildren, Brent (Monica), Bryan and Christian (Liz) Miller, Wendy and Cory Zingaro; great-grandson Grady Miller; his sister, Beverly Bush; one niece; one nephew; many dear friends, including Tilly Brunette, Pete and Betty Russo, and Leo and Lammy Pop. He was a U.S. Army Veteran WWII; graduate of Heidelberg College; Kodak retiree, 1982; Past President of Section V Swimming Officials; member of Etolian Lodge No. 479 F. & A.M.; former Parma Town Justice and member of Parma Zoning Board; Director of many church choirs and musical groups.

The celebration of his life was held September 3 at the Judicial Chambers at Parma Town Hall. Private interment, Parma Union Cemetery. Those wishing can contribute to the S. Edelman H. Gardner C.R.F., Spencerport Volunteer Ambulance or one's favorite charity in his memory.


SPENCERPORT

•Castle, Mildred V., On September 1, 2003 of Spencerport, at age 100. Widow of Dr. Clarence Castle. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pat (Robert) Wirth of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mrs. Carol (Richard) Bauer of Rochester; son, Robert S. (Donna) Castle of Victor; nine grandchildren, Thomas Flagg of Nevada, Barbara Strait of Ohio, Lt. Col. James Castle of New Hampshire, Deborah Castle of Maine, Thomas Bergan of Illinois, Christopher and Jeffrey Meyer of Pennsylvania, Rebecca Meyer of Colorado and Elizabeth Meyer of Pennsylvania; also four great-grandchildren. She was a member of The White Church in Spencerport for 60 years, past member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Spencerport Garden Club.

•Galligan, John J. Sr., on August 27, 2003 at age 76. He is survived by his loving companion, Lorraine Cannan; sons John Jr. (MaryJo), Jay, Robert, Wesley (Georgann) and Jamie; his daughters Ruth Mary Hill, Janette Doyle, Margie (Mike) Dilalla and Heidi Galligan; the children's mother, Janet; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a retiree of the Spencerport School District and was a member of Ferris Goodridge American Legion Post #330.

•Hess, James J., August 29, 2003 at age 71. He is survived by his wife Norma Jean Hess and family Julie (Gene) Fuller, Lynne (Sam) Militello and Susan (Ron) Smith; grandchildren Anthony, Nicholas and Charlie Militello, Danielle and Mark Smith, Gene (Michelle) Fuller Jr., and Shayla (John) Stringer, great grandson Cameron Stringer; his best friends Tom Roche, John Robortella and Craig Densmore; his godchild Linda Nasca; several cousins and many dear friends. He was a retiree of Delco Products and was a Director and Life Member of the Gates Volunteer Ambulance.

•Marolf, Alfred B., Formerly of Geneva, on August 29, 2003 at age 90. Predeceased by his wife, E. Irene Mott; grandson, James B. Francis, Jr., two brothers; one sister. Survived by son, Russell (Judy) of Spencerport, daughter, Janice (James B., Sr.) Francis of Churchville, Marilyn (Chick) Coles of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Arlene (Gene) Odom of Edwardsville, Illinois, 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters; six brothers. Mr. Marolf was a veteran of WWII and a long-time employee of NYS Power Authority, Massena, New York. He was active in Grace Methodist Church of Massena and Faith Community Church of Geneva.

Funeral Services were held September 3 at Salem Christian Fellowship Church, Beaver Falls. Burial in Riverside Annex Cemetery, Beaver Falls.


•Pembroke, Nancy Ann (Wick), August 30, 2003 at age 67. She was predeceased by her son Michael Pembroke. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Ralph E. Pembroke; her children Michelle (Thomas) Brennan, Matthew Pembroke and Marsha (Daniel) Geiger; grandchildren Matthew, Adam and Alexander Brennan, Nicholas and Jillian Pembroke, Lydia Geiger; several nieces and nephews. Nancy was a Registered Nurse at Park Ridge Nursing Home and also a member of the St. John's Reach Out Ministry and "Pfun" Committee.
