Quilt represents church's 150 years
Methodist Sesqui-Quilt at show

Members of United Methodist Church of North Chili have created a quilt of 49 blocks depicting people and events of 150 years of church history. The summary of facts and faces in fabric will be the focal point of 100 quilts at North Chili Quilt Show at the church, 2200 Westside Drive at Buffalo Road, September 12 and 13. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Farmers Market will be on grounds Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The show includes vendors, gift shop, lunches, refreshments, Food Cupboard collection, display of ABC baby quilts, and is handicap accessible. Parking is free. A donation of $3 benefits Grace Urban Ministries, Spencerport Ecumenical Food Cupboard, and ABC Quilts project.

Featured quilter, Judith Laurini of Churchville, will exhibit several of her appliqué quilts. Laurini's Wedding Album quilt won Viewers' Choice award at 1994 NCQS and she has won awards in international challenge competitions (prize results using specified fabrics) as well as the Apple Country Shop "Baltimore Star" challenge.

Laurini says she was drawn to quilting by her grandmother's utility quilts, one of which she treasures today and has copied in reproduction fabrics now available. Several of her quilts and wall hangings will be hanging in the show to inspire quilt artists and "wannabes" attending the exhibit.
