Senator Maziarz announces
Corrections Officer examinations

State Senator George D. Maziarz (R-C, North Tonawanda) announces that a new examination will be held for individuals interested in becoming a Corrections Officer with the New York State Department of Correctional Services.

This written Civil Service examination will take place on November 22, but individuals must first register for the test by September 29.

This information is also available online at www.docs.state.ny.us.

The department is responsible for the confinement and habilitation of approximately 70,000 inmates held at 70 state correctional facilities.

A Corrections Officer Trainee's starting salary is currently $28,444 per year, which increases after six months to $30,043. After successful completion of the one-year Correction Officer Traineeship, which ends one year after the employee's date of initial appointment to the department's Training Academy, the salary increases to $34,742 per year.
