Wellness Center offers diabetes education

The Daisy Marquis Jones Family Wellness Center of Lakeside Memorial Hospital is presenting its bi-annual Diabetes Education Series to the community. This program consists of six consecutive weekly sessions starting on Wednesday, October 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All sessions will be held at Lakeside Memorial Hospital. The fee for the series is $25.

The Diabetes Education Series is designed by professional educators to help people to learn more about their diabetes. Each session will focus on two pertinent topics. There will be a book to keep as a reference. Lakeside's series is based on the Life Skills diabetes education objectives. Topics to be covered include introduction to diabetes, diabetes management and monitoring and the effect of diet and hyper/hypoglycemia, foot care and complications for people with diabetes, cardiology, neurological complications of diabetes, nephrology, medications, questions and answers, exercises, diet management, stress of chronic disease management, and next steps in healthy living.

Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions to benefit from the program. Spouses and loved ones may attend with the participant.
