Spartans beat Blue Devils

Brockport had only four offensive plays in the first quarter and their offense had the ball for less than seven minutes in the first half as they lost to Gates Chili 21-0 in high school football.

The Spartans put together a 17-play drive in the first quarter, which stalled when they fumbled a lateral Brockport recovered at their own 14-yard line. GC took the lead early in the second quarter on a 31-yard touchdown pass. With 2:13 left in the first half, Brockport's Anthony Rogers picked up 13 yards before being sacked on the next play to end the drive and the half.

The Blue Devils started off the second half with a 30-yard kickoff return by Alva English. The drive also featured a 12-yard run by Kyle Marony, who finished with 41 yards on ten carries in the game, but stalled shortly afterward.

With just four seconds left in the third quarter, the Spartans took a 14-0 lead on a 1-yard, fourth down quarterback keeper.

Brockport had their deepest penetration in the fourth quarter when Rogers found Jermaine Martin on a pass play followed by Matt Popen's 25 yard completion to Dana Kepler. Martin then took a handoff to the GC 22 yard line before a fumble on the next play ended the drive. Gates Chili closed with a late touchdown run for the 21-0 final.

Brockport fell to 1-2 with the loss while the Spartans improved to 2-1.
