Hill Elementary School students
look to community for historical pictures

Fourth and fifth-graders at the Fred W. Hill School are creating a historical calendar and need the community's help. Students are looking for photographs featuring Brockport's historical people, places and events. Once the students have the photographs, they will do research and include important facts about Brockport's history in the calendar.

Anyone who has historical pictures significant to the Brockport area that they'd like to share with the students, contact Mary Wanzer at the Hill Elementary School at 637-1850 by October 15. Last year's calendar featured the Strand Theater and Main Street in the 1800s, Giles Hoyt, who was the town's first police chief and served from 1897 to 1940 and a drawing of the Seymour residence where the village offices are now located.

Each year, the students donate proceeds to a local organization. The 2004 calendars will be available in December for $5 at Mailboxes etc., The Mill House Restaurant, the Brockport Village office and Fred W. Hill School.
