American foreign policy is being hotly debated at home and abroad. What's behind the controversies? Are we heading on the right course?

On October 15 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theater, as part of The People Speak: America Debates its Role in the World, a nationwide event including hundreds of debates, Dr. Lynn Parsons, Chair of the SUNY Brockport History Department will debate Dr. David Staveley, Assistant Professor of Political Science at SUNY Brockport.

The topic will be: Resolved: That the present course of American foreign policy is counter-productive, dangerous to world peace, inimical to America's self interest, and contrary to America's historical role in world affairs.

Two students, Peri Donner and Kristen Huey, will be teamed with the two professors as follows: Parsons and Donner arguing for the affirmative, Staveley and Huey arguing for the negative. The moderator will be Professor Richard Frey of the college's Department of Criminal Justice.
